XRecord - client/server mode?

Is it possible to use XRecord on the client (and do I have to do something on the server?).

I prompted sub in the wishlist for a "locking" or parental control, etc, for my daughter's client only. He suggested recording/video plugins can do it. I see the XRecord has a "lock" feature, but I installed it on the client machine, and there's not even a "play" button when selecting a recording.

Am I doing something wrong?

I took a look and xrecord on the client is using GBPVR.Public.ScheduledRecording.getFileName() and only putting a "Play" button if the file is found. The problem is that particular method is returning the filename with the recording directory as set on the server machine (C:\Recordings\...). Shouldn't it return a filename with a path using the recording directory as set on the client machine (\\myserver\RecordingsShare\...)?

What should a plugin call on the client to get the network path to the recording?

and what if I'm using "Streaming", where there is no "\\myserver\RecordingsShare\" at all? BTW - it does work for recordings using the built-in recordings screen, so there ought to be a way. Sub, is this exposed thru the API?

The plugin seems to be doing a bunch of file access looking for -cut.mpg and .vprj, archiving and exporting etc... I suspect some XRecord functionality would be lost in streaming mode.

I dont mind to begin with "some" functionality lost. But it won't even play the recordings now... there's no "Play" button.

All I wanted is to enjoy the "locking" features. Is there a way? or another plugin perhaps?

Anybody know of a call that can tell the plugin if it's running on a client? I could then avoid the file check completely and give a play button regardless.

You can check the <ClientMode> setting in config.xml. You can get the XmlDocument calling IPluginHelper.GetConfiguration(), then use SelectSingleNode to find the correct setting.
