and a USB connection used as a GBPVR status and mini-monitor?

Possible? Perhaps?

I manually created this picture by doing a screen capture of GBPVR then saving it in JPG format and sent it to the photoframe via the USB port to display. I then took a digital photo of the frame display for this forum.

Basically, I'm thinking if I can do this process using my computer, my computer should be able to do the same on it's own. Right?

Yea, that's what I was thinking.

BTW, this photoframe will play MPG files too but as you've said mvandere, there's better options if it's to be a video monitor.

How are images 'sent' to the frame? If it has autorefresh you could use a auto-screen capture program (if there is such a thing) which can output to jpg or whatever.

When the frame is connected via USB, it looks just like a flashdrive to the PC and it's a simple drag and drop the screen capture jpg or perhaps a program that'll 'send' the screen capture jpgs to it.

It's not so much autorefresh as it is either select or scroll through a list of jpgs to display via remote such as select 'pending_recordings.jpg' or 'recording_conflicts.jpg' to view on the screen or it can via remote cycle through all the available screen shot jpg files.

This isn't a touchscreen and it's priced at about $100.00US.

Heck, this thing has a little speaker and can play MP3 and WMAs so it could also have various audio cues when a recording starts or ends or other possible actions.

Theres loads on Ebay... no the reason I suggested a touch screen is because you can look at creating interactive apps so rather than just been a display it can be a 'controler'.

Still you can get some cheeper screens that are not VGA.... having said that picture frames are dead usful and simpley very cheap for good displays.

Perhaps I was a bit optimistic on the price. I got mine at Sam's Club for $125.00 just befor Christmas, so I assumed they'd be down in price by now but the cheapest I can find on the net right now is $140.00 here or here.

There is a free program called "Wingrab" that looks like it will take a screenshot every second and save it using the same filename etc.

Has anybody tried this with a photoframe?

Could be the solution your looking for.
