I had a hard time navigating the wiki the first few times I visited. I hope I didn't step on any toes (changes can always be undone), but I felt that there the logical organization of some of the information could be improved.

The most noteable changes are:
* The sidebar - The second grouping of links started with "Contents". It seemed this contained all the Manual stuff, so I changed it to "Manual" and moved the "Contents" to the upper grouping.

* Menu groups - One main thing about the wiki is that there are places where the same information is organized differently. E.g., the sidebar menus open to show some items in a groups, yet if you go to the overview page for that group, these same lists were different! This makes the site difficult to navigate and hard to maintain as you have to try to keep these all in sync. It seems to make more sense to keep the sidebar links as quick navigation aids that take you to an overview page that is the one place the information is outlined. I started to do this for the Manual group - take a look and see if it makes sense.

* Manual Contents - Some of the introductory info seemed like it belonged in the ReadMeFirst page.

* ReadMeFirst is a good place to introduce the wiki, and now reflects that.

Let me know if this looks ok, or is not to anyone's liking.

Almost exactly a year ago, I said the same thing, that it needed work. And I wrote and wrote. And then I lost the newbie glaze, and I learned where most everything is...

I got some flak from guys who were used to things being the way they were. But mostly it worked out...

I would hesitate making major changes to the sidebar. That's where I caught the most flak....

Well, I hope it was the presentation you objected against and not the underlying structure, as presented on the Main/ReadMeFirst? Wink

As zehd pointed out, this is a sensitive area. My main intention in the beginning was exactly that the left sidebar and the overview of the groups should differ! Think of the left sidebar as the index list - where you quickly get to the stuff you want, when you know where you want to go. As a newbie you could, by an extra click, get to the group overview page and there get more information about where to go next. You also have a powerful search feature. You are more than welcome to also update the overview pages for the categories so they are more meaningful for a first time user.

Sub have also pointed out that he does not want old stuff in the sidebar, and we have therefore tried to get people to stamp (via category) their pages with which version of GBPVR they are supporting. My intention is also to remove all plugins not actively supported from the sidebar.

Now, as you point out, there's a lot of manually work to hold this in shape so all help is appreciated.

I don't have any objections.
