G'day all,

Won't bore you with a rant about how shite the pinnacle media center software is, only to say that I'm getting desperate for an alternative. GP PVR is the only program I've had partial success with.

I have the Pinnacle 310i card and it picks up all my local digital channels but only one comes up with a picture. All the rest are black screen and during live tv the message "no signal detected" comes up.

Have seen similar type problems on other threads but no obvious solution that works for me (please feel free to point out suggestions I may have missed). The one digital channel that does work is fine (only SD, the HD says quality is 100%, signal is 0%)

I'm using overlay. All channels work fine on the Pinnacle software - (but don't even try to record using PMC).

I'm at a loss and would appreciate any help,

Adman.

zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Are you sure you dont just have bad reception?

Thankyou, please forgive my ignorance (I'm not a techie but not completely stupid either) but which logs are you referring to specifically and how do I locate them? :o I will send you them when I get home tonight.

The reception is good, it is a rooftop antenna and the channels are very clear if I use the Pinnacle software.

As i suggested, GBPVR has been the most successful freeware program because I've watched SD channel 9 (watched you kiwis hammer us at cricket) and recorded no problem. Haven't got to scanning for channels using Media Portal and others because they either don't recognise my tuner card or some other config problem.

When scanning for channels in GBPVR, it finds all of them no problem but the preview screen is totally black (except for CH9). Anway, enough rambling, I'm sure the logs will tell you more than I can explain.

I know I called this thread "Pinnacle 300i" but it is actually the 310i card that I have. My mistake.

Thanks again.

Thanks Stefan, sorry about that. I have a 2 yr old and a 6 week old which means my spare time for these projects equals about 30minutes each night at around 11pm. Cue violins.Smile

The logs are attached.

I tried to use GBPVR again tonight and it wouldn't let me view the one channel that was previously working.
"Error. No connection could be made because the target machine refused it."

I've been stuffing around with Pinnacle trying to get the software to run without overloading my CPU and I may have inadvertently changed some setting.

I'm pretty close to giving up but will persevere for a little while longer.

I'm using the most recent version of GBPVR - downloaded it about a week ago. I'm not using any plugins. I have XP Pro SP2. My pc is pretty light on hardware-wise. AMD Sempron 2800+ 512 RAM and 80GB HDD. No video cards or anything.

Thankyou.

I recognize that Wink

Quote:"Error. No connection could be made because the target machine refused it."
"no connection could be made..." usually means you have a firewall installed that won't let gbpvr.exe through to gbpvrrecordingservice.exe. Do you have an active windows firewall, perhaps? Or some other software firewall?

Don't give up yet!

You are soooooo last week Wink New version on the site as of this morning. It shouldn't affect your problems, though.

Forgot. Try making it work again without getting the "no connection could be made", and attach the logs again. I think they will be more useful then.

No worries, If I don't get to it tonight, I should be able to get it done before the weekend.

Amongst important stuff like changing nappies and bottling home brew, I'm sure there will be time.

Cheers. Big Grin

Hm, I'm way in over my head here, sub will probably have a better answer, but I'll give it a go. I can see you get "no signal lock", but I don't know why. On the other hand, you state in your thread both that you have a pinnacle 300i and that it is a pinnacle 310i. You have it configured as a pinnacle 310i. Just to make sure, is that correct?
