I hope there's a config item in an XML file that I'm missing, there seems to be ways to fix a lot of things I ask about. Here goes ...

When watching Live TV, the data isn't buffered. This only occurs when in Timeshift Mode. Would be nice for Live TV to always be in Timeshift Mode so that you can rewind to view previous data. Example is I'm watching Live TV and my buddy comes over. There was a commercial 5 minutes ago that I want to show him. Other DVRs allow me to hit Rewind, and I can show the clip.

Another example, and another suggestion for buffering, is that GB-PVR is sitting at the main menu. I get home, hit Guide, and see that 15 minutes ago there was a show that I'd like to view. Is it possible to buffer data from tuners even when they're not active? If not every tuner in the system, then at least the last used one?
NPVR 4.1.0.180302 o Kodi 17.6 o EventGhost 0.5.0.rc4 o SAF 6.3.2 o SchedulesDirect

You can already do this by unchecking the 'use live preview mode' setting on the misc tab of the conifg app. It has slower channel change times, and is always buffering to disk. Personally I prefer quicker channel changing, and to not have my hard disk always in use, which is why it defaults to using live preview mode.

No, and not something I'm likely to add. I'm happy with the current apporach.

How do other DVRs change tuner so fast AND buffer the data? Even the Hauppauge MCE150 that I have isn't instant with channel changing. I'm not complaining, just curious what you know from a technical point of view.

Even if you are buffering all the time, I don't think you can go back a show. When a new show starts up according to the guide, I think the live TV buffer is cleared. I think that is how Tivo works as well. If you don't hit record before the show is over, it's gone.
