Hi Martin,

First of all, I think you're doing a wonderfull job in making the mvpmc-dongle available for GBPVR-users. Keep up the good work.

Just a few observations (see also other post).

I am using the alpha-build of 02-03-2007 & GBPVR 99.5
Have a D-type MVP (europe model, i.e. with scart)

with no dongle.bin.config available I get the full menu, i.e. MythTV, Replay, etc etc. Emulation mode is working, i.e. I can get connected to the GBPVR-server.

When using a dongle.bin.config on a "mvpmc" share, I get a short mvpmc-menu only containing the items filemenu, settings, about, emulation mode and reboot. In this case however, I can not get connected to the GBPVR-server.

dongle.bin.config contains the following line
mvpmc --startup emulate --emulate 192.168.5.2

In all cases, /etc/tftp.config contains TFTP=192.168.5.2
The GBPVR-server is located on 192.168.5.2

dongle.bin.config contains the following line
mvpmc --startup emulate --emulate 192.168.5.2

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure what you mean by reboot, does it actually try and download the dongle, or just loop on the mvpmc startup?

If you have a chance could you try the following command lines in your config.

mvpmc --emulate 192.168.5.2

mvpmc --emulate 192.168.5.2 --startup emulate -m pal

There might be bad logic where the startup option is missing some required initialization in the PAL world.

Edit for me on a D3A, mvpmc picked up the PAL init just fine. One thing you could see on a telnet session are a couple of the init lines
..

Fri Mar 2 15:28:11 EST 2007PAL mode, 720x576
...
screen is 720 x 576

If you have some knowledge to telnet or typing on the command line you can try out various startup commands from the telnet window. Saves reloading a dongle

1 telnet to your mvpmc machine
2 enter root as password
3 kill the running copy of mvpmc with the killall mvpmc command
4 enter startup commands from above

(ctrl-c to kill a running mvpmc telnet and start again).

You should also see how far mvpmc gets in the emulation mode startup using telnet.

Reboot as in the menu-option "Reboot"

Both work fine. I see however a a difference in behaviour. When starting mvpmv with the -m pal option, the greenish blocks are vanished (and the init string indeed show PAL mode); whereas whithout the -m pal mode and changing the video mode in the Settings-menu to PAL, the greenish blocks appear.

Also, the dingle.bin.config file now works fine.
The single line must not contain a carriage return / line feed :o

Indeed; That saved me a lot of unplugging the power cable Big Grin
And showed the init-string.

Thanks !

Thanks I will update the instructions until I test this further.
