I have a Wireless MediaMVP connected to a computer serving GB-PVR software. It plays music great, and I can view pictures without any problems. But when I go to play a video, it flashes a black screen, and then restarts the MVP. I used to watch these without a problem. The video files are Xvid. I know that it could be (and probably is) a Xvid codec problem, but I can watch these videos with the server that came the the MVP with no problem. I've searched this forum, and found related topics, but their solutions did not help me. Has any had this problem, or knows a solution that I could try tonight?

If you use it wired temporarily, does it work fine? Often people just find wireless doesnt cut it for the high bitrate requirements of video.

It works through the software that the MVP came with though? Video also played on the MVP before with GB-PVR wirelessly. Unfortuneately, wired is not an option. If I could have done it wired, I would have rather done that in the first place. This started happening when I downloaded AutoGK, so I could rip DVD's into Xvid and play them with GB-PVR. I think AutoGK installed a Xvid codec that GB-PVR doesn't like or something. I don't know how I would fix this though, because I want to use the AutoGK program as well. Sad

PS: Kick ars speedy reply Sub! I read a lot of your posts on this forum before, you must live on this forum! lol Well we all appreciate that you do!

The MVP only plays MPEG-1/MPEG-2 files, so when you try to play an xvid file, GB-PVR has to try to convert the file MPEG-2 on the fly. What speed is your PC? This requires quite a bit of grunt.

None of the xvid decoders etc on your machine matter. None are used.

Ahh, the PC is aAMD Athlon 64 3000+ with one gig of RAM. That should be able to do it woudln't it? If not, it assume it wouldn't work with the software provided with the MVP would it? Anyway, this was working wirelessly, and nothing was moved around, so I assume that my computer can handle it, although it would make a nice excuse for the wife to upgrade the computer, lol. The only thing that has changed is that I installed Divx and Xvid drivers, along with some other DVD ripping software including AutoGK. Thats why I thought that was the problem.

I really think it would help to know where the problem is if you could temporarily try it wired. If it works wired, then your problem probably relates to bitrates etc.

Zip and attach the logs though and I'll take a look.

I know, I'm sorry, but I don't have a long enough ethernet cord to do this with. That is why I am kinda forced to do this wirelessly. Getting the zipped files are going to have to wait until tomorrow though, because I'm not currently home and my Verizon DSL hasn't come in yet. So I will have to put them on here tomorrow when I get back to work.

I'll also uplug and lug my TV up to my computer tonight to check it wired. I'll let you know how that goes tomorrow.

Lets just say it isn't a bitrate issue... do you have any ideas that I might be able to try tonight other than getting those files ready for you?

You might be able to tweak the conversion bitrates in config.xml's <MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLinePAL> or <MVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLineNTSC> setting

I just set my system up with a new mediaMVP wired and the latest version of gbpvr and my mvp is also rebooting frequently. I have set my NIC to 10/half as other post's have mentioned as well as enabled the onboard NIC processor. Any other ideas?
