This plugin seems ideal for quickly burning recorded shows to give to friends/family but noticed this on the wiki page Sad

What's the reason for this and is there anything there can be done to use nova-t generated pal MPEG files as I'm in the UK?

There's a really long thread on this:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16057

If you look here, you may get some more info specific to PAL

yea, almost there but things still a bit off center...from what i remember the video works but the menus were a bit off alignment..
can't really test without a pal tv...but they play on computer fine...Smile
basically just have to edit batch to make all output 25fps,XXX x 576 or 288, and adjust the menu picture output and dvdauthor lines as well...

also, not sure about the auto-sizing of dvdauthor as well...for ntsc, i just tell it all video is 352x480 and if not,it adjusts automatically..try 352x576 in dvdauthor.
i'm thinking it should work tho...Smile

for the xml menu file creation i just used dvdauthorgui to make the template..

you're welcome to make any changes if you're up to it...and please share if you get it working nicely...Smile
i'll see if i can't get it working for next version as it should be last version for some time,pretty stable nowdays..

Hi McBainUK,

Have you got this working yet -- I think I have (also in PAL land).

Well, after wasting about 20 dvds trying to get the menu/description/button to where it didn't look so bad on my crappy ancient TV, I'm quite happy. I'm only starting out, but it is definately looking good.

Im keen to see this working well in PAL... any chance you can post up the amended .bat files? Or any suggestions on how you got this working?

Well first of all, it worked just right out of the box -- if I feed it a file that I have saved with VideoRedo, it will burn the dvd and it plays quite happily in my ordinary cheapo dvd player and crappy ancient PAL TV. If you feed it a file through GBPVR that it doesn't like, the "transcoding" pop-up will appear and then disappear very quickly, but you won't see why.

I don't know how to check if a burned dvd is ntsc or pal format.

I should also point out that this was learning by doing and I'm not really sure if the changes I made are the right ones.

At some point, pBS mentioned changing ntsc in "burndvd.bat" to pal so I did. (its in the "third party" directory and in the makemenu section of the file). I also changed 720x480 to 720x576 and the framerate to 25.

One other problem I had was that the Next/Main button was too far right. I had to alter the position/size of the menu buttons which took a lot of fiddling and I still haven't got it 100%. You also have to alter the "highlight1.png", "select1.png", and the "menu.xml" files in the "showburner" directory accordingly.

Altering the line "dvdauthmenu.exe ..." in the authmenu section only brought me errors.

I also changed adddvd.bat (in showburner directory) -- I added "-v 720x576+pal+4:3" between -t and -c in the part that calls dvdauthor.exe.

I wouldn't like to post my changed files because I changed a few other things to make it swallow German characters and had problesm with the machine going into hibernate when it should have been burning.

3 other things -- buy yourself a rewritable dvd -- I wasn't joking when I said I wasted all those dvds -- very stupid!

The other thing -- when you edit the burndvd.bat file, run it from the commandline so that you can see what it is doing and rem out the line that starts "start /wait /min "Imgburn" ...". This will make it create the files without actually burning the dvd and allow you to see what it is doing.

You may also find it useful to save a small section of an mpg as a test file -- just a few minutes so you don't have to wait on 4 GB to be processed.

In this thread:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=22035

pBS gave me a few pointers.

For the commandline:

<snip>
[add = burndvd.bat add "file.mpg"
burn = burndvd.bat
remove= burndvd.bat remove
delete list= burndvd.bat removeall]

<snip>
