This plug in is similar (and based on) the external recorder and software recorder plug-ins with extended functionality.

It allows you to :

a) use any graph that you have created in graphedt (Microsoft DirectX SDK) for live preview or timeshifting/recording (graph must use GBPVR writer and create a file) - this allows gbpvr to work with nearly any kind of capture card, software or hardware. I use it for firewire capture, and for capturing S-video from my fusion card.
) kick off external events for recording as the external recorder does

Read the README - one quirk: you must first add the plug-in then work your way back out of config program to get it started in the database. Then re-start config and you can alter the settings.

Please post screenshots of any working graphs you may have to help others.

The two here are dvico fusion s-video capture and a motorola STB, for recording and timeshift.

Just released 1.1 on the wiki - it adds a second tab for more graphs applied to a specific set of channels.

This helps avoid conflicts when using a STB for both firewire and s-video capture

Question: What firewire driver did you use for the motorola DCT? I understand there are two--one has it show as a tuner, the other as a video capture card.

Can this work as a TV tuner capture source as well? That is can it take the place of the software recorder?

As far as I can make out the only way is to use the software card as a video input and use something else as the channel changer.

Yes - that is exactly what it does, I use it exclusively in place of the software recorder.

Since you can use any graph it is very flexible. If there is a tuner in the graph it can try to tune it for you, it works for my fusion card on analog but it hasn't been tested with other cards for tuning.

Ok, just tried it and I got it working the first time. It will now replace the WDM software recorder (for some reason it stopped working after I installed my new MOBO). I'll post my graphs up later once the PVR is free again.

Thus far it works for timeshift and I haven't tried a recording yet.

Good work carpeVideo!!!

UPDATE: uploaded graph

Graph Recorder Version 1.3 released -

Adds custom1 and custom2 graphs.
Adds the ability to unmute an output mixer line for preview (fixes and issue where using captured sound causes a delay between picture and sound).

Note: there is a known issue with 1.3. If you are using the both graph tabs for one source and using live preview mode GBPVR may freeze if you channel up and the channel change requires a different set of graphs to play (this is not an issue if you back out to the guide and select a new channel ).

Fixing this would require a change to the GBPVR setPreviewToChannel function: to take another argument of a previewGraph, where if the previewGraph was different than the current preview graph gbpvr would stop that graph and replace with the newer graph. If you desperately need that you'd have to ask sub for the change but it certainly won't be high on the list.

That worked nice here. But LiveTV mode now defaults do custom2 graph. It´ll be usefull for me this way.

Didn´t work here. Maybe I have to add another filter to the graph. Right now I don´t have any audio filters/capture inside preview graph.

Think I have the same issue when I pause livetv preview (to start timeshift).

Maybe it´s better to leave livetv preview "as is" for a while. Too many problem till now.

I´ll reproduce the issues and post my logs later.
