Before I get too far into my latest project, I figure I better ask so I'm not wasting time.

sub, anything in the works for HD DVD playback within GB-PVR?

No, its not something I've looked into yet.

Unfortunately Microsoft has told developers of HD-DVD and Bluray software to use WMF (Windows Media Foundation) instead of directshow, which makes it much more difficult for thirdparty software like GB-PVR. I'm sure they've done this so they can enforce secure communication of audio/video data, which would have been more difficult with Directshow.

That said, if I wanted HD-DVD playback on my machine today, I'd do one of two things. 1) create a custom menu task that runs PowerDVD or WinDVD HD, or 2) use the BackupHDDVD or BackupBluRay utilities to rip the contents to the hard drive for playback with Directshow filters (this would give you the video but probably not the menus for a while).

Thanks. I didn't figure you were, but I didn't want to keep working if you were because I already know who could do it better and faster. Big Grin

I've been working on option 2 because I'm having issues with PowerDVD and I don't really want to launch a separate app if I don't have to. I've just about got the filtergraph the way I want it.

I'll be interested to hear you experiences, see your graph etc.

I dont own an HD DVD or bluray drive at this stage.

Sorry sub, I missed your post. Here is the graph that I finally settled on.

This will play an HD-DVD with VC-1 with DD+ (it stutters badly on my single core 3500+ though). I have not tried to build a graph for TrueHD or AVC yet.

Question is there an similar implementation of getpreviewgraph() for playing video files so that I can specify the filters and select the desired audio pin?

Not at this stage, but I'm hoping provide some mechanism for specifying custom graphs for certain file extensions. (ie an .evo file might be played from a custom graph loaded from a text file)

That would work. I was figuring on creating a plugin with an xml config file of the filenames/locations and the audio pin to select for the prefered language.

BTW: as for the multi filesource filter... I now see the " add to queue" stuff. :o Amazing what you can find when you look.

Did that graph have correct audio/video sync when you tried it?

I recently bought a HD-DVD drive from my xbox 360, and I ripped King Kong to the hard disk. I havnt really played around with it though, other than a quick couple of experiments this morning. When I tried that graph, it wasnt in sync for me.

It was in sync for me. I used AnyDVD to rip it to my hard drive first. That graph was actually done with KK too.

Same.

Figures. I'm a well and truely used to decoders behaving differently for different people. Me being on Vista may have something to do with it too.
