Since I turn my computer off at night (when there is nothing to record), could code be added that will spawn a new thread and update the EPG when the GBPVR recording service is activated for missed updates?

I leave my PVR off when I am not actively using it; consequently it misses the EPG update that occurs at 3am.
Since it is a stand-alone setup with no monitor or keyboard, I have to currently VNC into it and manually update the EPG through config (which is kinda a pain).
Could a plug-in be added with a “Update EPG” button that simply updates the EPG?

Thanks,
Scott

You can start GB-PVR with the -UpdateEPG argument which causes it to update the EPG before starting.

This should work for me (the -UpdateEPG switch). Does this switch cause a long delay upson start of the interface?

Yes, can cause a delay. It basically waits until the EPG update has been performed before starting.

Could it made into a seperate threaded process? If so, are you likely to do this?

Yes, I will do this (via a new -UpdateEPGNoWait option).

BTW, You can already start up another instance of GB-PVR with the -UpdateEPGOnly option, which just performs a background EPG update then exits and never shows the GB-PVR interface. Some people have their machines set to run this as part of startup.

You can add a button to update the EPG using a custom Task. I've got it set up this way. Pressing the button runs a batch file which fetches my EPG information and then runs GBPVR with the -OnlyUpdateEPG option.
