hello - my first post...

am trying to install the MCE Remote alternative drivers (as described here) and cannot see the MCE Infrared Remote Control device in USB devices..

what i can see is the eHome Infrared Receiver and some Microsoft eHome stuff under Keyboards...

am using XP SP2 MCE but not using MCE, of course! GBPVR all the way!

anyone able to assist? my aim is to use HIP to my difficult to control samsung NTL set top box....using this HipGuide

help is very much appreciated...thanks

Replace the eHome Infrared Receiver under USB Devices with the alternate driver.

I wrote the HIPGuide after my own painful experience of the recalcitrant Samsung NTL box. PM me your email address and if i remember over the weekend (and if i still have them) ill send you all the IR codes and settings i taught HIP. i got it to pretty bang-on 100% reliability in the end...but it was a long journey getting there....

thanks for both response, however i get the message 'location does not contain information about you hardware' when selecting the mceir.inf file...

is late and i'm getting confused - with the hauppauge 150 mce kit i bought, i got an MCE remote with it, blaster and beanbag however, it looks like this. along with red/green/blue/yellow buttons and a teletext button at the bottom too...

there's no mention of microsoft anywhere yet when in install the software for the hauppauge remote, blaster config reckons there's no hardware on the machine....

ok, to bed. as always, appreciate more awake, knowledgable peoples answers...

Does your remote look like this one with the red X over it? If so, you have an MCE v1 Remote. You need a v2.

thanks, that would be great and save me loads of time! mine is a 2110t box...

but before i can configure HIP, i need to install the other MCE remote drivers and I can't do it!

i think i need to identify my remote control too, strange as it may sound...i will take snap of it and upload it somewhere if i can't find it on web...

2 x HIP configs are welcome....!

ok, this is the closest match i can find!

is the same as image but has the colour buttons the bottom BUT these are not coloured - just grey in colour as the others and labelled red/blue/green/yellow.

when i get home, i'll take a pic.

is typical that i get the one no-one has ever seen or heard of and nothing works for it!!!!! Smile
