I've seen reference to this tag before but not sure of it's use.

<PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>

Anyone ?

If you have two back to back recordings, and two or more tuners, and PreferAlternatingCaptureSources is set to 'true', then it'll try to put these recordings on different tuners.

I sort of thought thats the subject I read about it in... but now you say "try".

Let me see if I can ask this in the fewest number of words.

I have 2 tuners
<PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>true</PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>
I have channel 12 recording 8-9 on tuner #1
I am watching channel 6 on tuner #2 when 9 rolls around
This is where it tries to record the 2nd show on tuner #2 but can't ?

"try" as in "it'll do it if the other tuner is available"

It'll try to move it to another available tuner at that time, or if it cant find one, it'll kick you out of live tv.

Correct, but padding is considered an optional for of a recording, so it'll happily forfeit the post padding on another recording so that it can move the recording and allow the user to keep watching tv.

ok not sure if adding on to this thread is right or a new thread would be preferred.

BUT Big Grin I was going through the config.xml and ran across
<DefaultFPS>25</DefaultFPS>
Since I'm in the US and 25 seems to be PAL to me... should this be changed ?

Thats the default FPS setting it uses when converting comskip frame numbers into times if for some reason it cant determine the FPS from the video file itself.

Its unlikely your setup will ever use this value, since it is nearly always able to determine the FPS from the video file.

Its not related to playback or recording or anything like that.

sub I hate filling up the forum with all these types of questions but I'm a curious one Smile

I think I've gone through about all of the wiki pages and am sure I would of book marked such a page. But is the config.xml documented somewhere ? also the keyboard layout, I noticed that f5, f8, f9 & f10 are not written up. Are they mapped secretly ?

No, and I have no plans to.
