I am a noob and need help :)

I just got me MVP in and installed all the software for it and it worked just fine.

The defualt user interface sucked and was extremely clunky... So I downloaded and installed GB-PVR

much better looking interface.

Once it was installed i could browse all files but whenever I hit "play" on one of my media files nothing happens and then the its says "reestablishing connection"

it didn't do this on the Hauppauge default software...

any ideas?

Did you remember to stop both Hauppauge MVP services?

Are the media files .mpg/.mp3 files, or something else?
