This is more a question for the community at large, as it is not really GBPVR specific. Kinda. More or less.
Anyway. Backstory. I pick up a lot of subtitled Japanese anime, some of which is in .avi format, some of which .mkv.
.avi files have the subtitles built-in, as it were, and play fine. With (most) .mkv files, however, the video and (foreign language) audio play fine, but no subtitles. While my knowledge of Japanese has soared to at least a dozen words, I still miss some of the subtle nuances. :o
I don't believe this is gbpvr's problem, but, rather, something to do with the media splitters and processors and other thingies that I don't really understand.
The subtitles -do- display when playing the file via ZoomPlayer or Windows Media Player, so it seems to me that gbpvr should be able to play them too (after all, don't they all use the same DirectShow goodies for the actual playback?) but I'm at a loss as to what I'm missing to make it do so.
So, here I am. Can anybody offer some suggestions or insights on what I'm doing wrong? Or am I really asking gbpvr to do something that it just can't do?
Thanks very much!
