hey guys I just figures out how to build a PVR with an old pc and saw that your software is free, so i was gonna go buy a tv tuner but wanted to take some advice first. here is the link to the video card im thinking about buying http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6815276002

could you guys tell me if i should go ahead and buy it or not. Keep in mind that im trying to make this as cheap as possible, so cheap in fact that i would go with free if possible. so help me out guys.

Sorry, that device isnt compatible with GB-PVR. You need to a card with a hardware MPEG2 encoder, like the popular Hauppauge PVR150 etc. Its also best to get a common card, since they better supported.

In the way of cheap decent cards, some users have been buying Emuzed Maui cards off ebay for not much more than $20.

With my first setup I went for on the cheap and then it kind of snowballed from there. But still as far as your capture card I'd go with Hauppauge
PVR150. There's all kinds of support for it and I'm pretty sure its the must common card used. If you have a Circuit City(if you have them down there) near you hit them up tomorrow I know I was in one the other day and they had them on sale for I think $40 after a mail in rebate.
Good luck trying to keep it on the "Cheap"!

Yes, the "HAUPPAUGE WINTV-PVR 150 MCE" shown at that link would be fine.

(may or may not be an issue for you, but this specific model it doesnt come with remote)
