Greetings Folks

I have a MVP but never used it with GBPVR. I had installed 99.12 on a stand alone pc with onboard graphics (svideo to sdtv).

So my question is this... if I hookup my mvp (crossover cable) to my htpc will I get the same functionality and more imprtantly, the same "feel" as I did with gbpvr and the onboard graphic connect to sdtv ?

the major difference is that you will have to transcode anythign that is not in MPEG format... which may reduce quality, or not be done in real time

I should be pretty well off then since I usually only watch recorded shows and dvd's. But now that I think about it, the mvp's don't support ac3 do they Sad

pretty sure that you wont be able to get 5.1 sound out of the MVP... if thats what you are asking.

you always have the option of just hooking up the MVP and seeing how you like it.

I thought that got transcoded... not sure someone who actually has an MVP might want to answer this.

There is no native support for DVDs via the MVP. You'd need to transcode them to MPEG2 before playing them.

You'll also need a DHCP server somewhere to give the MVP an IP address at powerup.

Thanks you all for your input. MVP isn't for me at least not yet.

You will however probably get better quality playback of stuff recorded in mpeg quality (recordings etc)
