Floundering (again!)

Hi

I'm installing my TechnoTrend USB TV Stick on a second pc and am having problems getting GBPVR working on it (having previously succeeded after much blood sweat and tears in getting it working on my other pc).

I've installed TT's latest BDA driver and GBPVR 1.0.16, plus the updated MS runtime, plus a demuxer. I've set up everything in GBPVR as a mirror-image of the config that's set up on the other pc. But when I get to "map digital channels to EPG channels" things go haywire. The scan proceeds normally and I see channels being found (because the signal strength and quality register as they're detected), but at the end a message comes up saying "no channels found".

I'm attaching the logs file. Any help would be much appreciated.

From the logs there are 4 channels probably carrying the signal: C25, C26, C35, C36, but the center frequencies or some other setting seem to be wrong in the search.
Can you confirm these are the correct channels carrying the DVB-T signal?
You can try to use different BDA-configurations before scanning (e.g. "All"). Not having gbpvr in reach, i think it's in the settings dialog for the BDA recorder plugin when setting up your capture source.
Maybe you even need a modified .ini-file in the gbpvr/BDA/dvb-t subfolder.

Thanks for the response. Yes, those 4 channels are actually the same 2 channels duplicated, except that the second time the frequency is greater by 167 (just to be sure!).

The thing that really puzzles me is that these are copied-over from my desktop pc - where GBPVR has been working fine for some time - to the other (home theatre) pc. I copied both the bda.ini text (for my own TechnoTrend USB card) and the BDA/dvb-t subfolder frequencies for my own location (Åland) from one pc to the other. Yet on the HTPC GBPVR fails to find those same channels. It also puzzles me how signal strength (from 62 upwards) and quality (100) can register during a scan and yet no channels be found.

Maybe sub could comment on this?

Anyway I'll check through it all again one more time and maybe try an all-channels scan (though under the circumstances I can't see what this would do that the more concentrated scan doesn't already do).

And - btw - TT's own BDA PVR app (TT Media Center), using the same BDA driver, does find all the channels

Have you tried to search channels using TTs bundled software? Does that work?
And if so, can you see the center-frequencies there and compare to the GBPVR-settings?

There is no sign of any errors in there.

You could try creating a c:\temp directory, and temporarily creating the following registry setting:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Devnz\LogPsiProcessing=2 (DWORD)

Then do the scan again, then zip and attach the c:\temp\psi.log file. Then remove that registry setting.

Just for clarity's sake:- altho' I said in the post that opened this thread that I had installed ver. 1.10.16, I subsequently went back to ver 1.0.8 on the off-chance that it was the updated version that was causing the problem on my HTPC - also because by doing so I would be comparing the same version installed on each of the two machines. Secondly, since I began this thread I've amended the "myfrequencies.ini" file to exclude the two duplicated entries (which only differed by 167 KHz(?)). So the scan now operates on 506000 and 586000 only.

'Fraid I don't follow this. Yes, I did search using TT's own software and, yes, it worked (perfectly).

But I don't understand what you mean by center-frequencies. I use only 2 frequencies (having now deleted the two which were virtual duplicates), 506000 picks up 5 channels and 586000 picks up the other 3.

By "center frequencies" i meant exactly the frequencies you mentioned, and from what you wrote it looks like you've already done what i supposed.

Let's hope sub will find some useful information in that new log.

Can you go into your capture source settings, view the BDA Recording Plugin settings (where you selected the card type), hit the 'BDA advanced settings' button and tick the 'ignore PMT CRC errors during scan' checkbox, then try again?
