typing with keypad on remote

I am using the version on the wiki as of Sept 1 but I can't use the keypad on the remote to enter text. I have tried both alt-R and the red button but I don't see a keypad icon and I only get numbers when I try to type text. In my config pad under the misc tab, I have checked treat numbers keys as mobile phone text entries.

It isn't a big problem and there is no rush, since I am mostly interested in a list of "all movies", all comedies, etc., but if it is something simple that I am missing, I would lke to fix it.

It looks like it will be a great plugin and will suit my needs. Thank you

When phone-key entry is on, you should see 'SMS' on the screen (if you are using the blue skin). You can toggle SMS by pressing PF11 or the GO button on the remote (when using 1.0.x version).

I am using a Hauppauge 45 key remote that is not mce so changes to the irremote.ini control the functions. I do have sms displayed onthe searchwiz2 screen and neither the go button nor pf11 have any effect on it.

I am guessing that the problem must be my irremote.ini file but I haven't made any changes since I upgraded to 1.0.016 I have attached my irremote.ini file in case anyone has an idea of what I have done to lose the ability to type with my remote.

Solved my problem and it wasn't my irremote.ini. In the config panel under settings, there is a default sms- on that was not checked. Now it is and now I can type.`
