Aaargh! Just as I thought I had got eveything working perfectly!
I noticed some slight juddering was back on TV, and have found that for some reason if I launch GBPVR using resolution changer:
GRNPOWER={run(C:reschange.exe -width=1280 -height=720 -refresh=50 "C:\Program Files\devnz\GBPVR\GBPVR.exe")}
Then fine, the screen blanks out for a few seconds and the resolution changes as it should. GBPVR starts up, the initial splash screen says loading or using VMR9 FSE... - and then the screen blanks again for a few seconds (a sure sign on my LCD that the resolution or refresh rate is changing again) and by the time I get to the menu in GBPVR the refresh has gone back up to 60Hz!
This only happens using VMR-fse. VMR7, 9, or custom using the same remote command and it works as it should - the resolution changes once, GBPVR starts, and stays at 50Hz until I exit.
So pleeeeeeeeese anyone got an idea why VMR-FSE is not behaving!
I am sure it was working last week - and cannot think of anything in partcular that has changed since...

My computer - the video card is going back to 60Hz. Not that I need it to tell me, as I can see it is at 60Hz, by the dreaded judder on the news tickers.
I was so pleased to get really smooth video using VMR-FSE at 1280*720@50Hz, and the icing on the cake was using the remote to change resolution and launch gbpvr. But I now think it can never have worked using FSE, as I restored my PC to a couple of weeks ago and it still will not stay at 50Hz.
I must stress that if I manually set the desktop resolution to 720p @50Hz, and then launch GBPVR, then it works fine- I get the really smooth news tickers of the 50Hz resolution.
And resolution changer does work fine with all VMR modes apart from FSE.
So for the life of me cannot work out why, using reschange.exe, VMR-FSE first goes to 50Hz but as soon as GBPVR says 'Starting...' it changes to 60Hz...

bugger sounded like a nice solution to the problem
and yeah its nice to be able to just press a button and away it goes
why cant you just leave it on 50hz the whole time?
i thinking maybe its something to do with the order it does it in maybe its switching to fse before it does the change if that make any sense
once its in fse mode nothing much seems to ba able to change the video card settings which is why fse fixes issues i guess
you might have to do like a 2 button start or some sort of double action with a wait i know "hip" can do this( i know here i go again promoting it but it does lots of little things that are handy that other programs dont do)

sounds like its switching back before it starts but i havent used rechange so im guessing here
does it show up in task manager (although hard to see when in fse)
the other option is switching around which one starts first

just thoughts probably wont help Smile

pob have you tried using hip
you can set it to run a exe before or after the program opens
and you can also add the -fse peramerter without having to modify a short cut much nicer way of start it
hip just keeps on amazing me the things it can do and it seems to do them well without stuffing things up

I have not tried HIP but got round this issue by just separating the resolution change and the launching of GBPVR. Never did work out why doing both things at the same time did not work...but now all works well with the Hauppage Irremote:
...; close current active window; disabled for now
;GRNPOWER={sys(0xF060)}

;GBPVR------------------------------------------------
GRNPOWER={run(C:\Progra~1\devnz\gbpvr\GBPVR.exe)}
BLUE={run(C:reschange.exe -width=1280 -height=720 -refresh=50)}
YELLOW={run(C:reschange.exe -width=1360 -height=768 -refresh=60)}
GREEN={run(C:reschange.exe -width=1280 -height=720 -refresh=60)}
;
;-------------------------------------------------------

;GUIDE={run(epgdemo.exe)}...
