I'm just wondering how much of a freak I am...

I have not the slightest interest in any sport and I never have. There, I said it!

I could not name 10 current NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL players if the prize was a million dollars. I have removed all of the sports channels from the lineup on my STB. I live 5 minutes away from the Bell Centre in Montreal and have never been to a hockey game. I have given away several sets of hockey tickets I have won or been given by work (including two tickets to watch the game from a luxury box with famous players from the past).

This has been a slight embarassment to me throughout my working life. I cannot fake my way through a conversation about "the big game last night". The last time I was dragged to a Super Bowl party I spent most of the day playing video games with the kids.

Whenever I start a new job I feel like I have a big secret that I will eventually have to confess. I have been openly ridiculed by colleagues and bosses about this.

This all happened because I was totally obsessed with cars when I was a kid and simply had no room in my brain for any other information.

Any other guys with a similar situation? I have never met another guy with as extreme a dis-interest in sports as I have.

I am right there with you. I also have trouble at work, especially with my old boss (He moved on, I don't want you to think this really affected my work) who was a football nut.

I will sometimes watch the superbowl, but I am secretly just watching for the commercials....

I have some interest in the world cup, but it is only once every four years.

I spent my childhood obsessed with computers and computer games, so I never developed a friendship with anyone who liked sports.

I get kidded about it all the time. They (Laughing) ->"Hey who won the game?" Me-> "Game? You mean all the cursing I was doing because the regular shows were being preempted was the NBA final series?"

It is even harder here because Dallas has a number of professional teams. Case in point I can remember the Dallas Cowboys, but I forget the names of our baseball and soccer teams LOL.

What a relief. I too can finally come out of the sports equipment closet.

Had it shoved down my throat as a kid; made me completely immune to it. Apart from the World Cup (foootball and rugby) I really couldn't be bothered. I bought Madden 07 a couple of weeks ago (it was $6 in Blockbuster after 08 was released)... but I don't know how to play it.

I like the pretty colors though Smile

lol, just kidding, but i am extremely jealous. I've only been to the bell center once and that was during summer so no game. I would LOVE to be five minutes away from my favourite team.....instead of toronto Rolleyes

Coming out of the closet feels good, huh.Big Grin

I try to read an article or two on college basketball and football prospects, (cliff notes for sports impaired? ) just so I don't seem totally out of it around my friends.

We did a job at a major NASCAR race shop and the only driver's name that sounded familiar was Daryl?? (Hell, I can't remember now) Earnhart.

Add me to the list. I used to watch alot of sports, but a decade or so back, I got disgusted with how all the players acted. Sorry but if you're gonna be paid millions and know you're supposed to be idolized by little kids, act professional on and off the field/court/etc. Most act like spoiled brats, IMO. Makes me sick to think some dipshit making millions every year would run a dog fighting ring or continually beat his wife or get caught drinking and driving.

I do watch Nascar, but that type of chit-chat around the water cooler neverrrrr happens around here. LOL

I really enjoy the college sports, basketball and football. But, for the last 10 years I hardly ever watch pro sports. I used to live up near Green Bay, WI and everyone is always talking about the Packers. If you needed to get some shopping done it was always good to go during a Packer game as the malls were empty.

I get the same thing. "Did you watch the big game last night?" I'm always like, "What game?" I then tell them I only watch college sports.

Not sports mad, the only sport I religously watch is F1. I keep an eye on football (soccer for you americans) for both my interest and to faciliate water cooler discusions...

I don't really have in any interest in sports, the only thing I will watch on occasion is college sports specifically Iowa State because that's where I go to school. I guess if you consider nascar a sport then I watch that to some times.
I really don't understand what the big deal is about watching football games all the time is, but some people don't get why I'm into computers so much.
On the note of football, I notice the other night when flipping though the HD channels that the local station will not disrupt the football HD broadcast for the weather overlay, and it was storming that night. But on other nights when it was storming they would cut the HD feed and just broadcast the SD feed with their weather overlay on it, it was even primetime tv.

Wow, it must me tough living in Dallas and not following football. Football is a religion down there. Texas has got to be the only place in the world where high school football games are televised.

Glad to see I have some company. Maybe we should form a new minority group and lobby for anti-discrimination policies - Big Grin

By the way....I once got dragged into a softball game for work. I was shocked when I actually whacked the ball over the fence....So shocked that I ran directly to third base Rolleyes - I NEVER lived that down. I have not seen any of those people in twenty years but I'm sure they would bring up that game if I ran into them.
