I have no IR receiver on my PC. Would need (or should have bought!!?) an USBUIRT to teach my computer to communicate with my Pace 551HD STB via my IR Blaster (IR Blaster.info)? Any configuration file available?

Any help on this?

Yeah, you'll need some IR blaster for your STB. Were you thinking of using this universal remote to control your PC? (or is just to control the STB for normal TV watching?)

If you need a remote for your pc, then maybe a microsoft MCE would be an idea? it comes with remote, receiver & 2 blasters - not sure how exactly you integrate the blasting capabilities with GBPVR though - maybe someone else on the forum has experience with this? (I only use my MCE remote for the client PC - but have had HIP send IR commands through it)

Otherwise there are a few other IR blasters, the Usbuirt is good - I use that for my PVR machine. (and it can obviously be used as a receiver too) - if you went this way, you might be able to use the Checkmate remote as a PC remote too (by using one of the remote functions, like DVD or VCR and teaching those commands to GBPVR)

Edit: just re-read your post - youhave a blaster, and should be able to find a config file which works for your cable box. ( http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/ )

Hope that helps

Thank you for this quick answer.

I already control GBpvr with my Cyberlink remote.

Now I simply want GBpvr to power on/off and change channels on my STB when I program recordings, wich only requires an IR Blaster and codes. Those are specific to my Pace 551HD (or Scientific Altanta 3200), if I am right.

If I can't get this, I will buy an USBUIRT, but don't really need it otherwise. So...

Wink

Edit. I have found the codes for an Explorer 2000. Is it the same used by Explorer 3200?

Not sure, but a lot of boxes in the same brand / type use the same remotes as it's a lot cheaper for the manafacturer to use the same IC & circuit design.

Just try it out and see what happens. I assume that you couldn't borrow a uirt from anyone?

But I would try as many Pace / Scientific Atlanta codes as you can find until something works, and if not try visiting remotecentral.com - maybe you'll be able to get someone on the forums who could help? (I am guessing the blaster takes pronto format codes?)

Thanks
