new feature request

Hi,

I've been using this plugin quite some time and couldn't really miss it any more. Great. There is one thing I would to see added: a 'jump to' function.

Let me explain. Suppose you are in the 'artist-album' Screen. In the left pane, you select an artist, and in the top right pane you see one or more albums. Being in that top right pane, I would like to jump to the album that is selcted, but then in the 'album-artist' screen. This is really handy when you have a lot of albums with 'various artists' in you collection.

It would be great to have this as a generic functionallity: eg. when the top right pane is artist, being able to jump to that artist in the first 'artist-...'screen.

In the top right pane, the OK button does not seem to have a function yet, so that would be an excellent choice.

Not sure if i understand your request.

I Call the album-artist screen the "Library" screen.
And the other main one is the playlist screen (when playing music or selecting a playlist).

When in the library screen you select an artist (in the left panel) and move to the album panel (top panel). I understood that.

Are you asking that when moving in the top panel that the list of titles change? Or are you wanting something to happen to the artist panel (left panel)?

The ok button is used in the top panel for activating the query if the "always query" option is turned off.

Ok, maybe I should use 'view' instead of 'screen'.

Within the the library screen, you can switch between different screens/views with the blue button. The default view is: artist-album-song.
When in that view I select album X of an artist (so I am in the top right pane), I would like to be able to jump to the album-artist-song view, with album X being selected in the left pane.

This is just one example of jumping, several other combinations are possible, but all would jump from the top right pane to the left pane, and switching views in the same time.

This functionallity would greatly improve the navigation. WMP11 has this function worked out very well: every artist, album, genre, .... is a link that allows you to quickly jump and see everything of that artist, album,....

Ok, I think I get it...after choosing an artist then album, reconfigure the screens as album (left) and artist (top) with the select artist being displayed??

Is that close enough?

Why not switch to album, artist, title as a view (switch screens key) and navigate to the album that way? Or go to the search screen (ctrl-k) and search for the album name.

Just some suggestions to get you thinking....But i'll have a look at your request....

That is what I do today, but that's quite a lot of buttons you have to push before you are there.

Or go to the search screen (ctrl-k) and search for the album name.

I did not know this one. I am at the PC now (normally I listen via the MVP), and ctrl-K does not bring up any screen. Should this be working in the library screen?

I'll think about your request some more to see how easy it is to implement - it shouldn't be too bad i guess. Not sure how long it will take to implement though (i.e when is my next release...).

I like that idea... i have lots of various artists albums. Its a good way to find the album that particular tracks are from and play the whole thing.

Good idea, hope you can get this in there somehow!
