Anyone know the lifespan of a pvr150 card? I'm getting some odd behavior, and wondering if it's just always-on taking a toll.

Circuit City has the 1600 for $80, and I was considering giving one a try. I'm still using analog cable, but it's only $10 more than the 150 at newegg.

What kind of odd behavior? How old is the card?

It's going on three years old. It's started getting a pause while watching and recording (I thought it was just watching). Seems to only be animation at the moment, but that has a lot more movement.

I'm focusing on the pvr card because it is not happening w/ avi files at all, which take up 2x the processing. I tried different mpeg decoders, but all have same problem. I also have counted out the hard drives since live tv buffers to C and recordings are on D.

Have you tried using the card through a non directshow application like dscaler?

Have you pulled the card & put it into a different PC also to make sure it isn't the PC?

I would try that first before sticking a fork in it.

I haven't tried those things yet. It would just be odd to have it be the slot, and then after almost two years in the same config start to act up. Especially where I haven't touched any HW in a year and a half (except for adding a external drive 6mos ago).

I will try dscaler.

I work as an electrician, one thing I hear a lot when something is broke:"How is that possible, it was working fine yesterday" or :"I don't understand, it has been working fine for years". Wink

I have had the dual 150 card for less than a year, and much of that time it has been idle. Tonight I was demonstrating GBPVR to my wife with everything functioning correctly when the screen went dark. No picture for GBPVR or PVRx2 in either Live TV or through TV Guide. Good picture on TV without GBPVR

GBPVR seems to be functioning correctly and MVP seems to be okay. TV guide is displaying the schedule on both machines. Checked the Capture sources setup and nothing seems to have changed.

Don't know if the board is having a problem, both tuners are having a problem. or if just the tuner that gets called up most of time has the problem.

In any case, no picture.

I started one channel recording, and then tried to view another channel. Got a message that there were no channels available. Tried to view the program that one tuner was supposedly recording and it was black. I think that this indicates that neither tuner is working.

Any suggestion?
