WINTV PVR 150
M10000 EPIA NEHEMIA
250GB HD

I have my hardware working, I just don't have access to an antenna right now to view any broadcasts and I am still building my box.

I have an lcd I want to mount on my PVR box. I have written a vb.net program to read a file and display it's contents to the lcd through the serial port. I want to display date and time and, if the pvr is recording, what channel is recording. In vb.net, I use the FileSystemWatcher event to look for a change in a file, look for the last line that was changed in that file and display that to lcd.

My question is: Is there a log file I can monitor just to know what channel is being recorded at the current moment? I have found the log files in the LOG directory. I set my logging mode in configuration to INFO. I don't see any logging information I can use. What file should I monitor? Is this doable? Should I set my logging to "debug"?

On another note, should the Hauppauge remote be able to start gbpvr.exe? It only starts wintv when I press the top left button. Also, when I go to configure gbpvr, it takes up to 60s or more to display the configuration screeen. Thats seems odd.

Thanks.

You should be able to look in the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log to see messages about recordings starting/stopping. You may need to leave it set on the default 'debug' level, and may need to enable log flushing. (you'd need to look at more than the last line too with the mechanism you're describing)

It doesnt by default, but if you do a forum search you should find instructions for doing this. Effectively you need to edit the irremote.ini to add some stuff.

There's already another LCD plugin. You could take a look at the source code and adjust it for your own LCD:

You could also use recordingstatus.bat, which when it exists is run every time something changes with the tuners. you can pass the tuner name and the channel to the batch file so it can then output that info to something else, either another executable which sets your LCD display, or a text file which your LCD reads periodically...

Not sure if this could be your case but I found I had the same problem after installing a plugin (although in my case it was more like 2 or 3 minutes with the cpu sitting at 99 to 100%) May be a place to start looking?

I got my record status to the lcd! vb.net will monitor the .mpg file directory and if any of the files are changing size, I display the first 3 letters of the file name (RECORDING ABC) as I only have 5 channels programmed. ABC,NBC,FOX,CBS,PBS. I set a timer up to see if the file ever stops changing size then I display STANDBY.

RECORDING ABC
or
STANDBY

Works great. Thanks for help. I have the remote starting gbpvr.exe also. Great help here.

Hello!

Is there any way or plugin to use an HD44780 compatible display on an printer port ? I have an old display that i have used for winamp, but for GBPVR i think it was a really cool idea !
