Okay...I've got an ATI TvWonder 550 card in my PC. I recently had to reinstall WinXP and could not reinstall Catalyst Media Center (??) but I never really liked it anyway and decided to look for an alternative and found BGPVR.

I installed it and find a wealth of features and capabilities but right now I would just like to get started with viewing live cable TV. I got it to work and am still configuring and have questions.

1> I do have any EPG so selected "none" and I assume I need to enter each channel that I want to view. I used Tuning Assistant, but what does that do? Does it produce a file of found channels that can be editted and imported into config?
2> Also, after manually inputting some channels in Capture Sources I tried editting a channel name and couldn't ... is there a way to do this?
3> Okay... when viewing live TV in PVRX2 is there a way to have the window "Always on top"?
4> Can I go directly to a channel by typing the channel number? I tried this and the number I typed appeared in the window at the top left for a few seconds but the channel didn't change.
5> Can I do any picture adjustments (eg contrast, brightness, etc)?

I couldn't find anything in the documentation. Am I not looking in the right places?

Thanks for any help...

It's been almost a year since I've used GBPVRs recording features so I can't answer those questions correctly. (Damned third world countries...) However...

I presume you are having issues with GBPVR losing focus. There's a little utility that a few members have collaborated on that will restore the focus to GBPVR (or PVRX2 if you use it) which works really well for me. Check out the thread link below. There are a few versions posted on that thread. Each version does something different so make sure you read each post before downloading. You will also need to download and install Auto-It. Auto-It is the scripting application used to create this wonderful little gem.

Yes. Use the 'add' button in the capture source settings.

No, does nothing. It doesnt create any files or registry settings etc. Its really just intended to help non-north american users understand what frequencies their various channels are being transmitted on. Most people never have to use it, but it's for helping people understand where their channels are.

There is no mechanism for editing channel names. Since you're creating them manually, you can remove and add them with whatever names you want.

Yes, you can do this. If it doesnt channel channels, then this usually means you typed an invalid channel number. Check the main 'Channels' tab in the config app for the list of master channel numbers. These may not be the same as the numbers you entered in your capture source channel list.

Right click the mouse on the top window border and click on "toggle Force-Foreground"
