Hello out there!
I would like to know, if there is a good cheap(or free) editor to cut, add and so on the recordings made by gbpvr. The design must be easy to go to when you edit the clips. A kind of Video"Audacity".
I use Nero at the moment, but im not satsfied with the quality of their codecs. I would rather use ATI, as it gives a lot better quality imo.

A lot of folk seem to use VideoRedo. A freebie I've only had a short time to checkout could be MPEGStreamclip from http://www.squared5.com

A VERY quick and easy editor, that notably do not reencode the file, hence saves whatever edits you have made very quickly is MPG2Cut2.

For simple editing like cutting start, commercials and end off a recording it's simply brilliant. I use it a lot, and have yet to have any problems from using it. Allows for full keyboard oriented editing, which is makes it very fast indeed.

It's free - Enjoy.

I've spent a lot of time looking for free video editors, but after I found MPEGStreamclip, I stopped looking. You can trim off your padding, cut out your adverts and save without rerendering. Well worth checking out. Wink

ProjectX (I use it as my first step to encoding, as it cut's the file and demux's the separate tracks). If I want to rejoin the two into an mpeg (for quick commercial free watching while I encode other files) I use ImagoMPEG-muxer. In order to keep my settings constant, I use GordianKnot to compress for the PC (XVID with externally compressed ogg vorbis audio, wrapped in an MKV container), and Xvid4PSP to convert the files for my phone (XVID - but using simpler compression methods, with AAC audio in an MP4 container)... All free software.

like someone mentioned above, VideoRedo seems to be popular. personally i think it is over-priced, but i still purchased it anyway.

I've used MPEGStreamClip a few times, seems to work very well.
Videoredo works very well too, but isn't free.
I tried Mpeg2cut some time ago, I had sync problems with it then but it might have improved since.
I also used cuttermaran, works very well but is not very user friendly with the demuxing and muxing etc.

I recommend this too. It's SIMPLE, quick and for just cutting is great.

I've cut litterally hundreds of shows both analog (PVR-350/500) and DVB-T with no problems. As the program actually do not reencode at all, it's strange that sync problems could even arise (unless they were already there in the original file). But as always with these things, stuff that shouldn't happen sometimes do anyway. That's what's makes it all fun i guess Rolleyes
