PVR 250 MCE Driver Problem

I just picked up a PVR 250 MCE for cheap and I am trying to get it set up for GBPVR on windows XP Pro. I tried going to the Hauppauge website and downloading the PVR 250 drivers and when I try and install it tells me that it couldn't find compatible hardware. I can get other drivers to install by downloading the mce cd off the website and running that setup. Once I do GBPVR will give me this error.

"Failed to locate configured capture device."

I'll get that no matter which card I pick within the capture source set up. I know other people have gotten these cards to work just fine, but I'm having one heck of a time and would appreciate some help.

Ok, I got things going a bit better. Using the WinTV 88x drivers and having GBPVR identify which card was installed (it choose Hauppauge HVR-1300) I got video to work, but I am still not getting sound.

Hauppauge are occasionally known to ship a different device than what the box says. Can you run filtercheck from the gbpvr directory, then post the filtercheck.log that gets created?

Yeah, it is definitely not a PVR250. I'm fairly sure it is a HVR1300.

What audio decoders have you tried?

the config gives me 4 options, system default, MPEG audio, Intervidio non-CSS audio, and ffdshow audio. I've tried them all.

I was gone for Thanksgiving but till set up programs to record, after coming back and looking at the things I recorded they all have sound. So, it is just the live tv which doesn't have sound. I currently have the WinTV 88x Audio Capture driver installed, and and am using the sysem defult for the audio decoder and renderer. these are the setting that I used to record. do you have any idea why i don't get sound with live tv.

What audio decoder do you have selected on the playback tab of the config app? Have you tried other audio decoders? Dont use 'system default'.

I tried all the audio decoders available to me without success.

however i did find that if, when under the misc tab of config, i uncheck use live preview mode if possible, or leave that checked and use encoder pass-through under deinterlacing i will get sound. however i only use live tv for video games, and those options introduce a lag, the other options do not, however they will not output sound.
