Question about developing a Plugin

I have just started playing with GBPVR and have all the pieces to build the HTPC to replace my tivo. I have been doing some reading and would like to play around with buliding my own plugins.
My question is under the Getting started page, there is a Tutorial Section ( http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gbpvr...f?download ), is this still a valid Tutorial? The turorial says Janurary 5, 2005 that is a couple of years old now. Also, I have Visual Studio 2003, is this good enough to build plugins or do I need to upgrade to VS 2005?
What else do people recommend to begin learning to program plugins? Thanks for your help, and I hope I can contribute something useful for the commmunity.

That document is out of date. I'd suggest looking at the sample plugins in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=27703

I'm fairly sure you'll need VS 2005, since this is required for .net 2.0. Microsoft have a free Express version on their website.

Quite a bit of source code is also available on the wiki, I found JavaWiz's WizTools helpful when I was having a play a while ago
