Hi,

I'm using batch files run from another computer to schedule recordings on my recording box. The batch files insert a new record into the database, pauses for a second, then runs -updateepgonly to let make the changes take effect.

The problem is that unless I am logged in to the computer, nothing records.

Is there a way to configure gbpvr so it will record while sitting there at the login box? The recording service seems to start ok.

This also means that if I am forgetful and don't schedule my show until after it has started, it never tapes even if I log in afterwards.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks!

GB-PVR doesnt need to be logged in to record. Its more likely something about your batch file or how you're running it that requires the box to be logged in.

Hmm. Here's what I did. I logged in to the computer and ran the following code. I could see the command prompts flash up on the screen, then I logged out.

C:\PROGRA~1\devnz\gbpvr\sqlite3.exe C:\PROGRA~1\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.db3 "insert into recording_schedule(capture_source_oid,status,filename, recording_type,recording_group,manual_start_time,manual_end_time,manual_channel_oid,quality_level,pre_pad_minutes,post_pad_minutes,priority)values(1,0,'bobfile',0,0,'2007-11-26 16:45:00.0000000','2007-11-26 16:50:00.0000000',1,2,0,0,0)"

C:\PROGRA~1\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr -onlyupdateepg

I waited until 16:51 to log in to the computer and it did not record.

Any idea about what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks!

Yeah, I've got a souped up TRS-80. I replaced the cassette recorder with a vhs recorder, but I'm still working out the kinks.

I hope santa brings me one of those drives....

Just wondering, why don't you remotely schedule your recordings using the web interface?

Its probably something to do with trying to run "gbpvr -onlyupdateepg" while the machine isnt logged in. It probably fails saying something about failing to create the renderer.

Ok, I have the problem narrowed down. It's something with the version that I'm running. I went to an old test machine that was running the .99 release and ran script. Everything worked fine. Re-ran the script on the production machine and it didn't record. I had to restart the recording service(even though it said it was running and there were no errors) and then it started recording. The production machine is only running 1.0.16, so I need to see if this problem is solved by upgrading to the latest version.

I can't use the web interface because I'm using this for a project at our school and I have to have some logic that authenticates the user and then only authorizes the user to request some specific tapings. Only enrolled students can request a taping and then only for the classes they are in.

Thanks for the help.
