I have a hauppauge 350 and I know if I connect my console to it and then use the tv-out hardware encoding will be used and there will thus be a noticeable wait due to the encoding. If I use my computer monitor, and thus software encoding, will this still be the case however?

Yes, this will always be the case. GB-PVR is the wrong sort of application for this task.

guess I'll have to buy a scart to vga adaptor - which are silly prices for some reason...
