I receive the error below when attempting to build the MAME rom database.

I searched the forum for previous occurrences and found a few. I renamed my config.xml file to config.xml.old and attempted to rebuild the file but with a fresh clean replacement I get the same error when attempting to build the MAME rom database.

I'd appreciate any further suggestion. I'll try to address it again after some rest.

what version of mame are you using? Better still, can you provide the URL for the link you used to download so I can test with the exact version, I haven't tested Mame for a long time so it is quite possible that the syntax has changed.

Thanks

Thanks for the assistance.

I used the URL from the Wiki. : http://mamedev.org/release.html

The Mame version is 0.122.

I specifically downloaded mame0122b_i686.exe http://mamedev.org/downloader.php?&file=...b_i686.exe

It installs just fine and runs fine from the command line.

Hi,
I think I have a solution to your issue, I hadnt realised that the name for Mame executable changed when it was optimised for i686. If you rename mamepp.exe to mame.exe it should work fine. Of course that also means I am not error checking very well but I already know that Big Grin

Hope that helps, please report back as I will update the wiki depending on you testing.

Thanks

Thanks. That worked brilliantly.

Just a suggestion for future versions but there needs to be some better means to review the roms. There are just too many. Mame32 breaks them down by manufacturer, game type, etc. I did find that page up/down worked on the keyboard but did not find a Hauppauge remote that was a page up/down equivalent. Of course I'm sure screenshots is also on the wish list.

Thanks again.

if you play a rom it will of course be added to your favourites, this normally suffices for most people remember to change the number of favourites kept in the config applet.

I dont have a hauppauge remote but if you search the forums you will find there are a few tricks that can be done with mapping different keys, I suspect pageup and pagedown has already been done.

I am still not decided if I will be taking the plunge and changing to the new look and feel of PVRx2 if I do then many things will be changed at this point.

Thanks for the feedback.
