Build 71 of EWA has been released. You can download it here or on the wiki.

This upgrade requires GBPVR 99.12 or higher to work.

Date: 2008-01-01 Build Number: 71 Changes:
  • UncleJohnsBand: Changed the treeview control to utilize CSS friendly rendering via the ASP.Net CSS Friendly Control package.
    • CSS Friendly Control Package can be found here: http://www.asp.net/cssadapters/

  • UncleJohnsBand: Update copyright dates to reflect 2008.
  • UncleJohnsBand: CSS Changes:
    • Add treeview display option to Manage and Search results pages.

  • UncleJohnsBand: CSS General Notes:
    • CSS Note: To access CSS based screens use guide2.aspx as your start page.
    • CSS Note: CSS screens are coded in strict standards mode. This will make future updates easier and provides the best cross-browser (Firefox / IE) compatibility. However, this also means that the CSS sceens will only be fully supported by IE 7 and FireFox. Some screens will not work correctly in IE6. Sorry.
    • CSS Note: CSS screens are optimized for screens with 1024x768 resolution or higher. Lower resolution will just cause more scrolling on some screens.
    • CSS Note: Please post feedback/bugs in the EWA CSS Guide sticky thread located in the EWA support forum.

That CSS Adapters is a tutorial and samples install, and therefore for developers. I couldn't find a link to a binary. Is it something that I need to install, or is it meant only for developers?

It is just a link to show you where the source is for the adapter kit.....EWA has what it needs from the adapter kit.....you don't need anything else for EWA to work with CSS.

For some reason after I installed this one, with the default screen the login is really really ugly, white background with 1991-era Hypertext and the GBPVR image icon missing.

Is the default missing some skin thingies? When I change to blue the skin all looks OK, but my work always resets cookies on login, so I keep it at default.

Ok.....I have a patch to build 71....or a beta of build 72.... Big Grin

Unfortunatly the file size of EWA is now hitting the upload max.....and it isn't really that big....986.6k....the limit is set at 976.6k. Sub is going to see if there is anything he can do to assist with this.

In the meantime, if you want the patch PM me your e-mail address and I will see that you get it.

Patch/Beta Fixes:
  • Login/Logout screen not always showing correct theme (or any theme at all)
  • Grid lines in the Guide for the Blue and Default CSS themes are now displaying.
If you just want the CSS fix there is a separate posting with that in it located here.

On 1.72.73 grid lines appearing correctly for all themes (including when there are no IMDB etc. links displayed).
Logout screen honors currently selected theme.
Login screen honors Blue and Default themes, but if Prototype theme is selected, the Login screen displays Default theme and the selected theme on the Admin tab has also been changed to default.

I'm also having a problem with programs not rolling up as I would expect in Tree View on the Manage Recordings and Episode Search tabs, but I want to have a closer look (in case I missed something).

Thanks....the coding is set to set the theme to default if the currently selected theme does not exist for the page type being displayed.

Long explanation.....

I have not (as of yet) coded EWA to forcibly keep a person in one type of view (table or CSS). Since I am not enforcing this there is a chance that someone could switch over to a different page type (i.e. table to css by typing in guide2.aspx from the manage.aspx page) and there may not be an identical theme for the page type the user is going to.....i.e. going from prototype theme to a table based page such as login.aspx.

So if the currently set theme is not found for the page being displayed it resets the theme to be Default....which will always be found in both CSS and table based themes.

If I decide to force people to stay within CSS or table based displays (via a setting in the admin screen) then this one inconsistency can be corrected. At this point I don't think it is too big of an issue and I like the ability to freely switch between the page types.

I would appreciate anyones thoughts on whether I should lock users into display type (CSS vs. table) via a new setting in the admin screen or if it should be left open.

I'm not sure what you mean with "leaving it open".
Or do you mean that you would have to decide yourself if you want to open guide.aspx or guide2.aspx?
I think I would prefer a config setting, set it once and you're done.
