Immediate Menu Selection Confirmation

Would it be possible to get some kind of confirmation when selecting a menu item or entering a command (like channel change)? It takes a good while to start live TV or switch between channels and it would be helpful to have some kind of indication that the application has received the command. The latest trend (in XBox 360, SageTV, and some others) seems to be to dim the screen and show a spinning icon. I think this would be a great feature.
