Due to some different audio options they're testing with the NZ DVB-T Freeview trials, the current app doesnt pick up all the channels when scanning. This is because of the AAC LATM audio they're testing. If you apply the attached patch it'll find those channels again. You wont get audio just yet, but it will at least find the channels and let you see the glorious high def pictures again.

Hi,
I live in Norway where the Live DVB-T TV is broadcast with MPEG4/H.264 video encoding and HE-AAC / LATM audio.

I can confirm that this patch enabled me to tune in all the open and encrypted channels which were previously undetected here in Norway Smile

However I am still struggling to get in pictures (ffdshow doesnt seem to work in GBPVR here ) and of course sound Sad

Looking forward to future patches....

For the getting the picture with these H.264 channels I use the Cyberlink H.264 decoder.

For the audio, I can also get this going but couldnt provide this as a patch because I would have needed to change several files (which complicates support between now and the next release).

If you're after anybody else to test this sub I'd be keen. I'm not too worried if it trashes my install and I have to reinstall everthing for the next release! :-)

Sorry, but I'm deferring adding these changes to the build because of the type of changes require. I'd have to back these out if I need to provide patches for other 1.1.5 stuff, so instead I'll only add it to the release just prior to the next release. (which is still several weeks away)

I have PowerDVD Ultra but cannot see the h264 codec in the option for video decoder in playback tab of gb-pvr config. I just get cyberlink Video/SP decoder. How can I find the h264 so I can view the Terrestrial trials in NZ please?

The video decoder setting on the playback tab is just for MPEG2 playback, so it only lists MPEG2 decoders installed on your machine. If you have PowerDVD Ultra installed, then I'm sure you'll have the Cyberlink H.264 decoder available on your machine. If you need to be sure, then you could check using GraphEdit (from menu choose Insert Filters -> Directshow, and you should see the Cyberlink H264 decoder listed).

So I finally got my DVB-T device working without locking up in the channel scan. Can someone tell me what channel has the trial on it? (ie the HD test channel, CSI etc)
I can see that TV2 has 1920x1080 in the logs, but the program I was viewing was non-HD to start with.

Thanks

TV1 and TV2 are showing upscaled versions of the normal TV1/TV2 channels. ie, transmitted as highdef but derived from standard def content. These are 720p.

TV3 is showing a CSI test loop at 1080i.

TV4, Parliment TV, Maori TV and TV6 are there in standard def also.

Thought I'd chip-in and say that I am receiving all three mux streams in Christchurch.
(after tweaking the apropriate BDA ini file to the correct frequencies for Sugarloaf transmitter)

TVNZ Mux:
TV1
TV1 (AC3)
TV2
TV2 (AC3)
TVNZ6
TVNZ7 (TV1 repeated)
TVNZ Sports Extra (title page only)

MediaWorks Mux:
TV3 (CSI loop)
C4

Kordia Mux:
Maori Television
Parliament TV

My DVB-T card is a DigitalNow "DNTV Live! Dual Hybrid PCIE S2" which has the Phillips SAA7162 chipset (GBPVR recognised it as KWorld PE310). This card has extreamly good input sensitivity, and I learned a tip - with signal strength of 65% and higher on this card I was overloading the input and was only getting 15% quality with bad pixelation. I inserted a 6dB attenuator and the signal strendth dropped to approx 50% but the quality jumped to 100% on all three streams with excellent picture quality.

The official listings of NZ Freeview RF-channels & frequencies are specified here:

Geekzone forum are also closely following the NZ Freeview developments:
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?for...icid=19328

And there is now a NZ Digital Television forum:
http://www.dtvforum.co.nz/forum/index.php?

I can't wait for GBPVR to fully support NZ Freeview - Keep up the good work Sub !
