I'm glad to see the HD format war is almost over. I must admit, I'd have preferred HD-DVD to win, but I'm still glad it'll come down to one format that everyone can back. The reason I preferred HD-DVD was because of blu-ray's BD+ and region coding. These seem like anti-consumer features to me.

Too bad. I don't have any trouble playing HD-DVDs. BluRay gives me problems (even on STBs).

It was always obvious what was going to happen. With PS3 being blu-ray it really gave the format a kick start.

I thought Walmart dropping HD-DVD prices would have been a big kick, but guess not.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

I'm glad it's over too. I was firmly in the HD-DVD camp but this war has been going on so long that I can no longer remember why.

I hope someone does a really in depth story about just how much money was lost by both camps over this stupid format war.

Sony really should have known better since they are famous for the most expensive and stupid format war in history (betamax).
