[rant on]What the f$ck is wrong with this company?

They must have a bunch of monkeys training their employees or something. Oh please, let me bow down to you while I ask for your oh-so special help. Customer service is going the way of the dodo.

I was trying to get a new hard drive for my laptop. They had a 160gb ide drive in their flyer for $74.99. Well before I went up there I saw on [H] that some of their stores were selling a Seagate 160gb ide 2.5 drive for $27.99:eek:. I hurry to my local store with $35 in my pocket. Turns out this store wanted $38.xx for the same drive. Damn I'm short.

This is where it gets fucked up. I asked the dude how many they had back there and the cocksucker wouldn't answer me. Not a direct "we don't tell you for whatever fucked up reason", but a bunch of mumbling. WTF?

I didn't have access to more dough for a couple hours and when I went back up there ALL the cheap drives were gone. "Some guy came in and bought all 10" the lackwit says.

I should have just said "oh well" and bought the $75 job, but I went home to call some of the other stores said lackwit told me still had some in stock. That was a fucking bust as the employees at each store said they couldn't find any of the drives the computer said they had in stock. Hmm, I wonder why?

Holy Jeebus farking christmas, the hell with it I say and head back to BB to admit defeat and get the $75 drive. No such luck for this miserable bastard as they now were all out of every last ide notebook hdd. Good stocking job btw. 0 for 3

Why the hell do they keep all the notebook hdds a big god damn secret in the first place anyway. They were all in some back room over in the Dipshit Squad area.

Since when is it OK to leave a customer standing at the counter for 10 min while you go off who knows where to research other store's stock?

Fuck Best Buy[/rant off]

First I would like to commend you on one of the best post titles I have seen around here in a long time.

I wouldn't be surprised if they hide the notebook drives away so that when you ask where they are they can try to sell you a new laptop or Geek Squad services instead.

There is a LOT of hate going around the net at the moment towards Best Buy.

I have not been buying anything there lately because their prices seem to have gone up quite a bit in the last year. Other than the crap about Monster Cables I have not really had any problems with them but I don't expect much either.

Did you guys read the article on avsforum about the big electronics retailers ripping people off because of the digital tv switch?
They're telling everyone that they need to buy a new tv to watch tv after the switch. Even though you can buy a analouge to digital converter box for 40 bucks and get gov'mnt rebates off of the 40 bucks...

I'm still ticked from years ago when a BestBuy sales guy was telling a little old lady not to get a small analog TV because in a few years "she'd be looking at a black screen." Few if any of the HDTVs came with tuners at that time, so buying one of those would STILL be a black screen.

There's a worse one someone mentioned they saw advertised for my area. A company is selling "digital Over-The-Air service" for x $ PLUS a monthly fee of $7 or whatever. You get an antenna along with uninterrupted OTA channels. I don't know how some people can look in the mirror.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

It's a bit stong for the GBPVR forums to say the least

OTOH, we could be grateful that he reacted this way and did not harm anyone physically or worse.

I'm in two minds about this. I dont really like to see too much swearing here, but I dont mind the occasional outburst of "colourful language" if the user feels strongly about something.

Guys - it doesnt personally offend me, but try to lay off the swearing if you can help it.

I cannot inline edit a post in the general forums.

It didn't seem over-the-top to me, but as a general rule guys, try to keep the language in check.

This is funny! I had a similar experience with Circuit City about 7 years ago - I don't even remember what it was but I was there Sunday morning, 1/2 hour after they open, and they were sold out already! What! Did they have 2 in stock!?!?!?! Jerkoffs!

Needless to say I don't shop there anymore. As far as BB, the last thing I bought there was my monitor, and I was there 30 minutes before they opened - and I had to wait in line . The doors opened, and everyone shot into the store. They had 10 monitors for that price and they were gone in about 2 minutes. One guy bought 3 of them - so much for one per visit like the ad said.

This is the main reason anything I "have" to buy from Circuit City or Best Buy gets ordered online for in-store pickup. Then when I get to the store, I know it'll be waiting for me at customer service. I know this doesn't work on everything, but I'll be damned if I'm going to trust their online "stock check" or some punk on the fone and drive all the way down there to have some snot nosed kid try to upsale me 15 minutes after wandering aimlessly about the store looking for the item.
