My sister is on holidays and she asked me to record The Oscars for her while she was away. Usually I would burn what she wants to DVD so she can watch it at home on her TV instead of on her laptop.

This time around I thought I would try BurnDVDX2 to do my DVDs instead of just firing up Nero and doing it manually.

So it works great, I love the fact that I don't have to exit GBPVR to create my disks now. It created the DVDs for her other requests fine.

But the Oscars ran about 3:30 hours, and the file generated won't fit onto a single DVD. So I had to split the file manually using mencoder (from this post http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=22060) and then re-run comskip on the new files. Then use BurnDVDX2 to make my DVDS.

So after that long ramble, is there a way to do this in BurnDVDX2?

No sorry there isn't currently, but I think Imgburn supports it so I will look into it. Not sure about nero though.

Also, I started working on trying to get dvdshrink to work from the command line and shrink larger files to one DVD but haven't got very far yet.

I was using imgburn with BurnDVDX2, it does actually create the ISOl, but because the size is over 4.7GB, it assumes I'm burning to a Dual Layer DVD and pops up a window in the background asking where I want to put the layer split (can't remember the exact term).

Thanks for looking at it. In the mean time I'm going to use something similar to the SuperSimpleArchiver and put my batch file in as a custom transcode option so I can split files from MyVideos, then use BurnDVDX2 to make the DVDs. It's still easier than doing it all manually!

You might try running imgburn directly and under the build options set the split to 4.7GB. I'll try this also later on tonight when I get home.
