Sometimes I get a window appearing in GBPVR showing signal strength and quality. Is there any way to get that to appear at will? I would like to use it to adjust the antenna direction.

I found this thread
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=30337

but I think that is just for certain equipment, and I have a cheap, no-name adaptor.

Thanks

With the new versions AFAIK it's control+O for onscreen signal strength of DVB devices

AFAIR DVBDream (google for it) has a signal strength display, audio as well for dragging a speaker outside or a phone. Just needs a DVB driver.

Sorry, I'm wrong - ctrl-O doesn't show strength, just strea, info.

Checked and dvbdream can speak the signal strength or quality.

Funny really - I have the opposite request!

I often get the darned thing appearing when I start PVRX2 just to tell me that this signal is very strong - plus a perfectly received picture plays underneath the added message telling me that there is no signal.

Unfortunately, when it happens I can't make it disappear until I change channel.

...of course, it only happens when I'm not trying to demonstrate it - like all the really good bugs do. Rolleyes

Thanks.

I downloaded dvbdream, but I can't seem to get it to work with my adaptor. The only option I seem to have to set the device is "BDA 2.1.0", and I think I need to tell it more specifically. It doesn't find any signal.

In GBPVR, I also select BDA as the source, and then I have to set it to
"KWorld DVB-T 350U Device - QT"

GBPVR also lists "KWorld DVB-T 355U" and "Pinnacle DVB-T PCTV USB" as found on my machine, but neither of them work. The actual name on the adaptor is "Peak".

I appreciate this is the GBPVR forum and not DVBDream, but any tips?

I tried CNTL-O too, but nothing appeared in GBPVR. Do I press it while watching TV?

I think you need the utility ScanChannelsBDA. First place I found is below. I think there is one with some presets for UK, but I don't know whether the one below is that version.

I have a kworld usb thingie somewhere, if I get a mo I'll dig it out to see if I can get dream working with it. I found it handy because of the voice for adjusting my aerial.

There is a UK version of scanchannelsbda, but the UK Hauppauge forum semms to have closed and that held my link for it's location. I know for sure it works with my kworld usb adapter as it just talks to the bda driver.

Thanks.

ScanChannelsDBA-UK is available from http://quantexzone.com/

I ran that, and most channels have strength around 25,000 and quality of 100%, except one frequency, where all channels had quality around 25%.

I'll try moving the antenna around a bit and seeing if I can improve that. Option 7 seems to be what I should use, but I'm a bit confused what frequencies I need to put in. One is is Khz (frequency) and one is Mhz (bandwidth).

Is there anyway to dump the output of option 1 to a file? It seems to even find the channels that share a channel, whereas GBPVR seems to only find the active ones. Would be nice to have all channels listed in the EPG.

My adaptor is this one http://peakhardware.com/products/product...=1&B=11&C=

My weakest channels is the highest in frequency and I used that one to tweak the aerial.
ISTR the frequencies go in KHz so 850000 is what I put in for the highest one here. 8 for bandwidth I think.

If you look in the directory the program is in, you should find a file written that has the info you want.
