Although I have cable and am 'safe' when the big change hits the states in Feb. 2009, I got 2 of those $40 coupon cards to get a converter. I figure it's good to have one around in case cable dies.
I hooked it up to a junky, 19 year old tv (19") with the very simple rabbit ear antennae the tv came with and got every channel I'm suppose to. It was very easy and the box walked me thru what little set up there was.
I got the DTX9900 from Radio Shack. That was all they had and the reviews aren't so great. I guess if I got all my tv OTA I would wait for the price to come down as well as more choices. However, I don't see the big box stores carrying more than 1 or 2 brands as most people won't want to spend more than they have to.
