Anybody have experience using splitters/combiners to put two sources on one cable?

Little background:
All cables in the house congregate in the basement (from all the bedrooms, attic antenna, outside lines (Dish Network and cable modem). I only have one cable going to the living room.

What I want to do is combine the cable from the attic antenna and the cable coming from the Dish Network's dish to the line going to the living room, then split it back out in the living room, running one cable to the STB and the other to one of the PVR150s. If my research is right, I need a "combiner" to combine the two sources (Dish STB and PVR150) and then a splitter to split them back up passing power only to the Dish. Right?

So I found this site:

Unsure if any of these will do what I want:

Looks like two "Diplexer" are what I need.

Make sure they split at the 860/950MHz mark. If they split at the 650MHz mark, they are for OTA only and will not work for cable. Lowes carries them but they are higher. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pr...lpage=none

Thanks Whurlston. I'll stop by Homedepot tomorrow and see if they have any. (Lowes is in the next town). Is there any reason to consider the ones that handle up to 3000MHz?

Yup. The split has to be at 860/950. The satellite signals range from 1Ghz - 3 Ghz. I'm not sure if they have started using the 2-3Ghz range yet (been a while since I dealt with satellite) but they will. OTA/Cable will use the lower range ( < 1GHz )

I can't remember any at HomeDepot offhand but they may have them. If not, Radio Smack, Circuit City, Best Buy, Sears, HH Gregg and possibly WalMart should all have them.

The newer dishpro plus lnb's and as far as I understand the new signal wire multi-switch stuff that direct tv is testing both use up to 3ghz to send both vertical and horizontal polarizations at the same time with out changing the voltage. Also you can get diplexers off ebay for cheap as well if you dont mind waiting.

smarthome.com and smarthomeusa.com also have a good selection on this type of distribution stuff for decent prices. I know they have sat stuff but have not looked into it. I use a combiner for my modulator to send my MVP output to the entire house alongside the cable signal. With the right filters, it works like a charm.
