Ok, I have a geniatech DigiStar PCI DVB-S card (same thing as the digiwave 103g, which GB-PVR has listed in devices) and am running into some problems, wondering if anyone could give me a little help or some ideas I've missed.

Here's my setup

DishPro Quad LNB (twin LNB to look at 2 satellites at the same time, 4 outputs, built in diseqc switch)
straight cable run from LNB output to DVB card. no additional switches, splitters, etc.

I am looking at 2 satellites. Now, with my old Hauppauge Nexus-S and MyTheatre or ProgDVB, it worked fine, diseqc port 1 was satellite 1, and diseqc port 2 was satellite 2.

I go into GBPVR and setup my device, add in a capture source for satellite 1 using my dvb card on Diseqc A
I then add a capture source for Satellite 2 using my dvb card with diseqc set to B

When I go to scan channels, I get the same channels on both satellites. This tells me that I have a diseqc problem and it's not switching the built in diseqc switch between ports. I went through the BDA.ini and saw that some cards had a line that read BDA_SUPPORTS_DISEQC= with a 4 or a 3 listed for the value. I tried adding this line to the digiwave 103g section and setting it to 4 and to 3 and also even to 2, and the same thing occurs. I know that diseqc is not covered in the BDA spec and has to be implemented separately, so is diseqc implemented for this card? Has anyone else gotten this to work, and if so, how did you do it? Is there any info I can provide or post (logs or diags) that would help to get it implemented or find a fix?

I appreciate any help anyone can provide on this. From my initial looking, GBPVR looks like a great prog, I just need to get the initial stuff ironed out Smile

As you know, diseqc control is done differently by every manufacturer. GB-PVR has support for the FireDTV, Twinhan and Hauppauge ways of doing things. Other DVB-S cards have no diseqc control.

The manufacturer would need to supply diseqc programming info for this device to get it working.

I checked on the Geniatech website and found info to contact them for support and also for software development, and hardware development. Here's the info I found -

Contact Us:

sevice mail: support@geniatech.com
Software Development Dept: soft@geniatech.com
Hardware Development Dept: hardware@geniatech.com

Company Address:
5F,Shenjian Building, M4 Bldg,High-Tech Industrical Park, Nanshan District,Shenzhen.

As I am not a coder/programmer, I would have no idea exactly what to ask for and how to phrase the requests and whatnot. I am posting this info to see if someone who knows more about coding and such and knows what info they need would like to contact them for the programming info. If you'd like me to attempt it on my own, and forward any info I can get, please let me know (and it might be helpful if you could list any specific things or info you need so I can be sure to ask for those things). I would really love to see this card supported in GBPVR, since it seems doubtful that my old Nexus-S will ever be supported in most of the newer progs that look good to me Sad

OK, I've emailed them.

I'm willing to bet they'll never respond though. This is pretty common for these chinese companies.

Ah, it's worth a shot though, right? Big Grin

In the meantime, can you tell me which values for BDA_SUPPORTS_DISEQC mean what? I know I've seen 3 and 4 in the bda.ini, but I don't know which value is twinhan, hauppauge, and firedtv... I was thinking about playing with this some more, maybe getting it on twinhan and then changing the twinhan method in the config.xml and see if I can get anywhere further on my own.

Also, there wouldn't be any logs or anything from my install that would be useful on this would there? If there are, I'd be happy to post anything that might help Smile

BTW, Thanks for your prompt replies and help so far on this, I really do appreciate it!

SUPPORTS_BDA_DISEQC values

1=FireDTV legacy mechanism
2=FireDTV recommended mechanism
3=Hauppauge mechanism
4=Twinhan mechansm

All other values are ignored

No, the logs wont be of any use. The only thing that is going to help is if the manufacturer supplies the info.

Handy info. I'll update my bda.ini editor to show these options instead of a simple 0,1,2,etc.

Thanks again for all the info and help, I'll give these a shot when I get home from work and see what I can come up with. If I come up with anything that works I will update here so the info can help others.

I'm pretty sure none of those will work.
