I'm currently trying to get any music played to come from the rear speakers as well as the front.
My current setup of decoders/renderers will allow TV and recorded TV (that is stereo) to use front and rear speakers.
If I play .mp3 through windows media player or Nero showtime I get front and rear speakers, but in PVRX2 I only get just front.

Has anyone and ideas or suggestions as I'm completely stumped.

Have you been through all the renderers you have available to pvrx2 to no avail?

I'm not sure what else I can suggest. I don't think it would be the decoders, but it is possible I suppose.

I have 5 decoders and 6 renderers and have mixed and matched all to no avail.

Do you have music from front and rear speakers?

If so which decoder/renderer are you using?

Um, actually I pump my pvr directly into a yamaha amp and the tv. TV is a headphone jack to 2 x rca plugs = stereo. And the amp is via digital coax = Stereo/AC3/DTS.

The amp is smart (!?!) enough to figure out it's getting a stereo signal and only drives the 2 speakers....sorry.

I think I can tell the amp to ignore that....but thats not what you're after.

I use Mpeg Decoder and AC3Filter is on the system to just in the way of any AC3/DTS sound streams. My renderer I think is system default.

This might be a sub question, but I think you should be able to get the same action from windows media player and pvrx2.

Some decoders like AC3Filter or the ffdshow audio decoder will allow you to configure this type of stuff.

Hmm, he might be right caseyJones (he normally is Big Grin ).

Just had a look at my AC3Filter mine is set to 3/2+SW 5.1 Channels since that is what my amplifier is expecting.

But there are options for Quadro 2/2 surround 3/1, 4.1 3.1 etc. So maybe ac3filter is worth having a play with....

there are many that allow configuration of output, including spdif..
MPA decoder,[also does ac3]
AC3 filter[my fav]
Dscaler .8 [part of the video decoder package, but usable separately]
Nvidia Purevideo[audio part]
and a couple more...

AC3 filter is nice cuz you can set levels independently, etc.
i use it to correct levels of ac3 tv vs. mp2 sources as they differ widely in vol.

I have installed ac3filter and set it as the decoder.

if I now run pvrx2 and then bring up the ac3 config i would expect to see some feedback on the input bars but they remain totally blank. it also says input unknown (whether I do tv, music or movies). Have I setup wrong or does everyone else get this as well?
