Hello,

I have posted on here several times seeking help on different things but I have failed in getting GBPVR set up. I am currently using Vista Media Center and it sucks. I recently added Starz and HBO to my cable account and if I am wanting to record a program to watch later I have to pray it doesn't come up with a Blue Screen saying I can't watch the program I recorded.

Here are my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHZ
1GB of RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium
Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS
and, of course, my 2 Hauppauge HVR 1600 cards

I also have a Microsoft Remote Model 1039 and this has an IR blaster resembling the one in this picture:

http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/directron...actrl2.jpg

These send signals to two STB's. In Media Center they work fine. When I try to use GBPVR I have several issues. When I go to add my cards I don't see two Hauppauge 1600 present when I put a check in "Only show devices connected to this machine". Instead, I see a 1600 and a 1500. Also I am unsure what board numbers I should assign. I have had little issue getting my EPG to work but I am kind of unsure whether I have it set up correctly to update nightly.

My two biggest issues lie in getting Live TV to show a picture (all I get is a black, staticy screen). Second, I have found it nearly impossible to get the channel changer to work. I originally set it to MCE 2005 IR Blaster but no luck. Searching on the GBPVR and other forums I followed several tutorials for getting HIP or IR Server Suite to work. I found HIP almost impenetrable. Such as when I went into "Edit IR Commands" to get the commands from my STB remote I get constant errors trying to learn an IR command. In IR Server Suite I was able to learn commands but they blast to both STB's! I am unable to make it send to one or the other. I am hoping to soon be able to make this work. Please, if you can, HELP!

Thanks,
Nick

This is normal. It wouldnt show your HVR1600 twice. Its only lists it once. Just setup two capture sources, both selecting the 'HVR1600' card, with one set to use device #1, the other device #2.

"HVR-1500" was the original name for this device before they decided to go with "HVR-1600" as the final name. It list both, but either would be ok.

Assuming you're using the Schedules Direct EPG Source and you see you channels listed, then it should be ok.

This sort of thing is usually related to the video decoders you're using. Reproduce the problem and post the pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

I cant really help you out with this side of things - I've never used HIP ir IR Server Suite myself. Lots of others have though, so hopefully someone will be able to give you some comments. From what I've read it sounds like 'IR Server Suite' is much easier to use than HIP.

I read that you can add "-port Port_1" or "-port Port_2" to the '.exe channel changer' command line to specify which blaster you want to control.

Nice to know!

No, I'm using MceEpg2XmlTv. I can get my listings fine, just unsure if my .bat will work for doing the update.

Hmm, I'll do that. Does it create a log automatically or do I need to make it create one?

I'll try this out! Perhaps an expert in this field can help.

I've never run MceEpg2XmlTv, but I'm sure you'll be able to work though that one yourself.

If is not running automatically from your batch file, the most common mistake people make is incorrectly assuming the current working directory. This is usually easily fixed with a "cd ...." to the required directory at the start of your batch file.

It automatically creates the logs in the 'logs' sub directory.

OK, I'll get a log up asap.

Try viewing live tv then zip and attach the complete pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log files and I'll take a look.

I'm pretty sure its just something to do with the combination audio/video decoders you're using. Which ones have you tried of each?
