I'm trying to find one of the big box retailers that sell a multi standard TV in the US. Looking online none of the usual suspects sell them, or at least list them in the specs.
I can find them online at a few places but prefer to find it locally.
I basically need a set that can view all the PAL variants, NTSC, and decode nicam audio. Having a scart input would be a plus also.
Has anyone ever seen one of these in the states?

You won't find it in any of the big name stores; your best bet would be an electronics shop in a Chinatown or similar market catering to an international audience.

Yeah that what it looks like as far as no big boxes carrying it. I thought Frys might, but no luck there either.

I checked Craigslist and found a used one. Going that route since there isn't a Chinatown in Austin.
Thx

Is there a difference between the local ones and the ones we get?

Philips is who makes them. They're worldwide. And I've found that their VCRs are about 1/10th as reliable as a Panasonic/Matshusta. ymmv

500GB Storage (on this one), HVR-1600 capture card
ATI-1050 256MB, and more as I think it up!
OK, I finally bought a HD TV. Glad I had some stuff recorded to watch!

Cheap DVD players can play PAL discs to an NTSC TV, and an HTPC can play pretty much anything on an NTSC TV. I'm curious to hear why you want one. I'm having a hard time thinking of many uses for such a thing.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

Years ago when I first started playing with satellites, I had a multi standard TV, PAL, SECAM, NTSC - half a dozen tuners, dozens of h/v sync rates etc etc.

It was the most unreliable device I have ever owned ;( In those days, most of the standards switching was done with relays and/or long strip slider switches. I used to go through a tin of contact cleaner a week.......

When I was travelling the world on boats, I had a Sony that received just about everything terrestrial and even survived the salty atmosphere.
