I must agree with you all - GBPVR is a good program - I am just starting up and I am still wondering which program to use - but GBPVR is my number one at present!

I must express my gratitude to SUB and the people making plugins so that nonprogrammers like me can use such a good product. And also the forum is very useful - I have actually spent a lot of hours last week to see what GBPVR and plugins can do - and I have still things to discover - just great!!

My wish:
In Sweden there is a possibility to have a webEPG where you can set recordings on the web from any computer - or from my mobile(cell)phone,  and the PC at home using WIN2000 and in the future BeyoundTV (GBPVR?) will poll (every 10 minutes - user configurable) the recording request and record the film.
This way I can start a recording even when on vacation.

I would really like to have this feature but the GBPVR has other good functions e.g. the wide range of functionality and also via the MediaMVP.

So I am trying to see how I can have both - e.g. using Win2000 polling from the webEPG and GBPVR for the rest including viewing recordings in GBPVR that was made by Win2000 somehow.

I do have trouble starting win2000 when GBPVR is running - and the possibility of conflicts when setting recordnings in different program is another problem.

is there a way to have GBPVR check on a website if a new recordings are set - and then fetch the parameters?

I also live in Sweden, and I can use my cellphone to add recordings. I use the gbpvr webserver to do that. I have a qtek 7070 cellphone (old). It is the first Microsoft smartphone that was sold on the Swedish market. It dosen't go fast, I am thinking of geting a UTMS phone (3g-phone) to get faster up/download to the webserver.
Att work I got a Firewall that blocks almost everything so no gbpvr att work [Image: sad.gif]

There is a webserver built into GBPVR, Look at the Misc tab in the config, Web Scheduling.
All you have to do then is make sure the port that you set can be seen from outside of your network, forward a port on your router etc...
Though saying that, it doesnt work for me atm, aint gotten around to looking into it yet

Mobile wise you would only be able to view this if your phone has basic HTML support which most dont... Symbian and SmartPhones shouldnt have a problem as the browsers generally do and you can get 3rd party ones etc, like Opera.

Making a WAP version shouldn't be that hard

ok

I have the webserver already up and running. I do feel a little bit afraid of opening a port into my network - I guess it would be easier to brake in for other people then.

But if I would do open the port - I don't have a fixed IPaddress although I think I normally get the same IPaddress everyday for my ADSL connection.

Jonas - do you have problems with security settings or IPadress?

(It is ok not to use the mobile in the first step - web is fine for me)

Still I think it would be good to be able to connect to TheSwedishEPG via GB-PVR since they are always updated and have all the channels I need.
They actually saved my recording last week I was to VHS record 24 but I just had my PVR up and running so I tested and then I realized that the program had been delayed by 20min - the new time wasn't in the newspaper. With VHS I would have missed the last 20 min!

To see your machine from the internet you can use a Dynamic DNS provider:

http://www.dyndns.org/services/dyndns/

That should allow you to see your webserver.

This is the way I use it. I open my web-browser on my phone I put in my web-adress: http://2XX.6X.1XX.1XX:7647/gbpvr/Login.aspx
Log in and add shows. It is pretty simple (the only thing you need to do is to know your IP-adress, not the local one + enable web server in config.exe). It is pretty slow but works for me. Regarding security I have had no problems whit it(have firewall to my PVR whit only 2 open ports 80 + 7647).

It would be really nice with a WAP interface. If necessary, I could suggest the markup so that it's just to code the logic. Then all mobiles would be supported. The HTML requires a lot from phones. My SonyEricsson even supports some HTML, but won't read the web server stuff...

Being able to download files (from the web browser) would also be cool, but that's a separate thing...

Not ALL phones - I don't have WAP ability.

What I'm currently looking at is SMS -> Email gateways. My idea is that I send an SMS text with recording info. to the SMS/Email gateway, the gateway converts to email and sends on to one of my mailboxes, a custom utility running on my machine polls my ISP mailbox every 10 minutes, say, then acts on the instruction in the messages it downloads. It could also feedback info. using email -> SMS in case of recording conflicts etc.

I'm not sure how trustworthy any of the SMS/Email gateway companies are though or what it would cost to subscribe to such a service.

Yes, you are obviously right... not all phones... but it is the case for most GSM phones where the operator doesn't charge obscene amounts of money for a simple service. In Europe, this means that most people could use it... I guess in the US and some other parts of the world, this isn't necessarily the case.
