I tried to install a few months ago with no success and got side tracked with PC errors and stuff.

Now I'm going to install it as I have a stable(ish) system.

I'm using PVRX2. I guess I only need to add the tag reader (which is best / fastest?) then install ML2.

Anything else I should be aware of for installing ML2?

One other question - Is the Album/artist/title view configurable?

cheers

I have taglib-sharp, and UltraID3Lib in ../plugins/common.

Yes you can choose multiple views in setup to set top and left panels. There you now can choose from album/artist/year of release/genre/composer. Title is always in lower right panel.
Note that with Community skin3 you will get the Composer name in the details screen.

Do I need both? Does ML2 use both if both are there?

Thanks for the info.

I have a big task ahead to tag my MP3's.
I use MP3Tag.

Can you recomend a command line tool that I can use to script tag read and writes?

cheers

I found ID3 mass tagger http://home.wanadoo.nl/squell/id3.html
which does what I want.

At some point in time there was logic in ML2 to switch between tagreaders if one failed. I do not know if this is still the case.

I am also a happy MP3Tag user. I get most of my tags from external sources like freedb. I use MP3Tag edit functions for global replaces to 'normalise' names to one single spelling. The global search&replace strings can be saved in MP3Tag. I do use these once in a while when I spot deviations. Proven very usefull for me.

I use mp3tag cos it shows up on the context menu and have been using it a lot to add embedded album art.

For large scale operations like directory/filename to tag changes I use tag&rename.

No both tag readers are not used, by accident I let both out with the previous installation which I shouldn't have done. The point was users were supposed to get one or the other of these and so you had a choice....

They have their uses, ultraid3 is MP3 only, but does it really well (and quite easy to use from my point of view) - Taglib-sharp handles pretty much everything else.
