Hello Sub,

Could you modify the allowable extensions for upload to include the 7-zip file type .7z?

Data, especially logs, can be more tightly compressed with this.
Here are some examples using the logs directory of my gb-pvr installation:
Code:
Normal     Maximum    Ultra
.zip    276K          259K      199K
.7z    153K          135K      135K

Thanks

Now all you have to do is get old guys like me to use rar and 7z.

Ever since zip became part of windows, it's became a no brainer that it is and will be the most common format for a majority of basic users. Sure stats show the other formats are more efficient, but it's just slitting hairs in the grand scheme...

I use 7zip now because it seems more & more open source programmers are using it.

But, I like the built in zip in windows like you.

7zip is really good for multimedia files. And it does quite a number on really large postscript files - which is why we use it at work. Would take a 1 gb ps file down to 10 - 20 mb...

I think it does all right on mpg files as weell - just make the dictionary really big.

I use that compression level on the CommunitySkin and SkinPlugin distro. Really saves space.

As a free open-source zip program I use IZarc. I liked it over the other ones back when I tried them out because it suited my needs better. I "zip" and "unzip" probably more than most people. About 10 times a day!!! (work related ect.)

The first compression/decompression software I used was PKARC and PKXARC the predecessor of PKZIP and PKUNZIP long before Winzip. Never knew what PK stood for.

Imagine someone using their initials in the program name!
