I extracted the schedulesdirect utilities to my GBPVR folder, setup the PostUpdateEPG.bat script. Then when I try to run it I get the following error:

Unhandled Exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Any suggestions?

Do you have a registry key localmachine\software\devnz with a key for gbpvr installdir?

the error is pointing to where the code looks for the install directory of GBPVR that is supposed to be in the registry....

Let me know.

There is no devnz directory under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE.
Can you tell me what to add?

Do you have GBPVR actually installed? The install of GBPVR should create the registry key.

I have attached a reg key file that has the gbpvr install directory sub-key in it. You should just be able to double clikc on the file, answer yes to the merge into registry question to add the key.

Let me know what happens.

Thanks for that - it fixed that problem. I had a lot of difficulty getting it to install correctly in Vista - so maybe that was one of the problems.

Now in the log file I'm getting this error:
File not found: C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\extendedewa.db3

Its because GBPVR is installed in C:\Program Files (x86). Can I change that path somewhere?

N/M - I changed the registry key you gave me to represent the correct directory.

Now I get a different error:

I turned off User Access Control (which I think gave me all the previous errors on the install) and updated to 1.2.13. It installed cleanly this time - no errors.

Running the utility though gave me the same error above.

No surprises there....UAC is evil....I turned it off first-thing when i got Vista and have not had any problems.

Couple of things to note....one is...did you read the wiki concerning using the XML that is exported out of GBPVR when using SchedulesDirect? There is a config setting that you need to turn off if you are not going to use that feature....otherwise it is already defaulted to on in the config file. You do have to also update the GBPVR config file to keep the XML file.

Code:
<!-- Source of EPG setting

      Setting this value to false casues SchedulesDirectImport to download the EPG from SchedulesDirect
        Setting this value to true causes SchedulesDirectImport to use the already downloaded EPG that GBPVR nativley downloads.
        To use the true setting you must also set the <SaveZap2itXML> tag in the config.xml file of GBPVR to true.
      This option is only avaialable if you have a single SchedulesDirect lineup.
     -->

    <add key="UseGBPVR_XML" value="true"/>

Next.....if you are not installing SchedulesDirect Utilities into the same directory as GBPVR (preferred place to install it) then you need to copy some of the GPBVR files to the directory you installed SchedulesDirect Utilities too and you need to have the extendedewa.db3 file in the gbpvr\ directory since that is where it is expected to be.

Do you have SchedulesDirect Utilities installed in the GBPVR directory or did you install it somewhere else?

Yeah - I tried replacing the configuration file with a fresh one, tried setting that value to true and false. I get the same error each time. I also set the <SaveZap2itXML> tag in the config.xml file of GBPVR to true.

It is installed in the base GBPVR directory.

Maybe it is a Vista x64 problem?
