Does gbpvr support controlling a directv box using a 9pin cable?

No, not directly. It can control it with an IR blaster like the USB-UIRT, RedRat3 or Actisys IR200L.

Alternatively, GB-PVR can be configured to send channel change requests to girder, which in-turn can user a serial cable to change channels on your direct tv box. At least I think thats the case. I've never tried this my self. I'm in New Zealand and we have no equivalent box.

The USB-UIRT works great to control a DirecTV box. I've had one setup for a week or two now, no problems yet with it changing to the wrong channel.

By the way, there is this other directv control utility found at directvcontrol.com that could also work if you were to include it.

Thanks

I'm not going to include that utility in GB-PVR, but you may be able to get it to work using the '.exe channel changer' plugin.

Well it seems to work Great using as Sub has indicated by using it via Exe channel changer plug-in.  you have to down load two programs, the Directv utility and the Command line utility. I have the Directv utility start up automatically when Xp Starts up and have it minimized. (sorry I don't have the Gbpvr software in front of me so I'm doing this by memory)
I then go to the gbpvr config and to the Tuner part of the field and select the exe channel changer plug-in and then select "settings" and place the path for the Commandline utility Exe. and on the perimiter I put "#{Channel}" . and wella. I've been able to have GBpbr do several dozen
sucessful scheduled recordings for almost two weeks now. the only problem I came across is Live tv mode. I remember it work ok, freezes alittle off and on, but after adding this feature it seems to lock up when I go to live tv mode now. not sure if its related to the bug that some guys are talking about or is related to the channel changer stuff I'm using. but the live tv mode isn't an issue for me right know and will wait till it's resolve, I also think I'm having the same problem when I select "watch" from the tv guide too, but I'm just glad that my computer now can be able to change my directv box to the correct channel to record the programs I scheduled from the Tv guide or By the Web Scheduling. I even 86'd my Vcr from my living room.
the only thing to know is I have to leave my Directv Box on.
and the Directv Utility program must be on for the second program "commandline utility program" to work.

I'm using the Hauppauge PVR350

I pretty sure that there might of been another way to do this but with little information I have this is what I came up with.
hope this helps

I also got a question, if i have something scheduled to record say like in 15 minutes, and i wanted to watch something that is already recorded by GBpvr and is ready to be seen, while I'm watching it will the program that is schedule to record, be recorded in the background with no problems? or will there be a conflict or something.
Thanks

Yes, that will work fine.
